В статье представлены математические модели на основе искусственных нейронных сетей, используемые для управления индукционной пайкой. Обучение искусственных нейронных сетей производилось с использованием многокритериального генетического алгоритма FFGA. This article presents mathematical models based on artificial neural networks used to control induction soldering. The artificial neural networks were trained using the FFGA multicriteria genetic algorithm. The developed models allow to control induction soldering under conditions of incomplete or unreliable information, as well as under conditions of complete absence of information about the technological process.

The portfolio optimization is an important research field of the financial sciences. In portfolio optimization problems, it is aimed to create portfolios by giving the best return at a certain risk level from the asset pool or by selecting assets that give the lowest risk at a certain level of return. The diversity of the portfolio gives opportunity to increase the return by minimizing the risk. As a powerful alternative to the mathematical models, heuristics is used widely to solve the portfolio optimization problems. The genetic algorithm (GA) is a technique that is inspired by the biological evolution. While this book considers the heuristics methods for the portfolio optimization problems, this chapter will give the implementing steps of the GA clearly and apply this method to a portfolio optimization problem in a basic example.

We describe mathematical models and practical algorithms for a problem concerned with monitoring the air pollution in a large city. We have worked on this problem within a project for assessing the air quality in the city of Rome by placing a certain number of sensors on some of the city buses. We cast the problem as a facility location model. By reducing the large number of data variables and constraints, we were able to solve to optimality the resulting MILP model within minutes. Furthermore, we designed a genetic algorithm whose solutions were on average very close to the optimal ones. In our computational experiments we studied the placement of sensors on 187 candidate bus routes. We considered the coverage provided by 10 up to 60 sensors.
