Due to the rapid increase in energy demand with depleting conventional sources, the world’s interest is moving towards renewable energy sources. Microgrid provides easy and reliable integration of distributed generation (DG) units based on renewable energy sources to the grid. The DG’s are usually integrated to microgrid through inverters. For a reliable operation of microgrid, it must have to operate in grid connected as well as isolated mode. Due to sudden mode change, performance of the DG inverter system will be compromised. Design and simulation of an optimized microgrid model in MATLAB/Simulink is presented in this work. The goal of the designed model is to integrate the inverter-interfaced DG’s to the microgrid in an efficient manner. The IEEE 13 bus test feeder has been converted to a microgrid by integration of DG’s including diesel engine generator, photovoltaic (PV) block and battery. The main feature of the designed MG model is its optimization in both operated modes to ensure the high reliability. For reliable interconnection of designed MG model to the power grid, a control scheme for DG inverter system based on PI controllers and DQ-PLL (phase-locked loop) has been designed. This designed scheme provides constant voltage in isolated mode and constant currents in grid connected mode. For power quality improvement, the regulation of harmonic current insertion has been performed using LCL filter. The performance of the designed MG model has been evaluated from the simulation results in MATLAB/ Simulink.

Computer science's technologies have come to revolutionize the current era, the distributed generation and the introduction of new alternatives in the conception of the energy production, it is a factor that seen from the energy planning it allows to introduce the renewable energy sources as an element in the development of energetically sustainable territories.  The space distribution of the natural resources that they generate, it has made necessary to develop advanced systems for the studies at the space level. For the necessities of printing an analysis space and territorial of the renewable energy sources studies, a geographical information system of renewable energy sources was designed using free software that offers information of the renewable potentials in the territory. This system is a tool that allows an appropriate way to offers information of the place (longitude and latitude) and the potentials (solar, hydric, wind, and biomass) that are generated in them.

The features of Russia is the low population density on huge, poorly developed lands in terms of production. About 20 million people live in the territory where there is no centralized power supply, power supply is organized on generating systems running on imported fuel. (Research purpose) The research purpose is in studying the prospects for the development of microgrids based on the use of alternative energy generating systems of renewable energy sources using a micro-gas turbine plant as the base generator, which is the source of the reference voltage of microgrid based on single-wire resonant distribution networks of a new generation in Russia. (Materials and methods) The article presents the prospects for the development of microgrids based on material taken from open sources. Authors applied the methods of scientific analysis of events, facts, materials, and conclusions. (Results and discussions) The article shows that the world energy system evolutionarily enters a new fourth stage of fundamental transformation, called the "Energy Transition". The creation of microgrids based on renewable energy sources with a basic micro-gas turbine unit and single-wire resonant distribution networks of a new generation is an indisputable proof of this energy transition. (Conclusions) In many countries of the world, there is an increase in the share of distributed generation based on renewable energy sources, the introduction of new centralized generation capacities is reduced, investments in the construction of large power plants and new high-voltage transmission lines are reduced due to the development of distributed generation. Distributed generation contributes to the rapid expansion of electricity production without the need for additional development of the power grid infrastructure.
