To provide guidance to engineering practice, the reliability of the vertical bearing capacity of single steel pipe pile is analyzed. The FOSM method, the FOSM method based on fuzzy stochastic and the FOSM method based on artificial neural network are used to calculate the reliability of steel pipe pile through MATLAB program. It is show that the FOSM method based on fuzzy stochastic and the FOSM method based on artificial neural network are more suitable for the reliability analysis.

The ABAQUS finite element software is used to calculate the vertical bearing capacity of single piles in Tianjin, and the finite element results are compared with the data gained through the in-situ static load pile foundation tests. It is found that the Young’s modulus of the soil at the bottom of the pile could have a important role in improving the vertical bearing capacity of single piles.
