This paper describes an ontology-driven framework for developing distributed simulation modeling of construction processes. The research described in the paper is motivated by the necessity of knowledge sharing between distributed simulation modeling collaborators, and reuse and portability challenges in construction simulation models. Our approach addresses these challenges through ontological modeling and linking of construction simulation modeling components including (i) ontology of construction process, (ii) ontology of simulation world view, and (iii) ontology of distributed simulation modeling application tool. Within the paper, ontology driven approach and mapping of ontologies for information transference between simulation components has been described. Another discussed application of ontologies is structuring of simulation modeling development through use of reusable elements. A large-scale distributed simulation model of industrial construction processes has been outlined to illustrate the application of the approach.

In order to realize simulation modeling of complex particle like corn, change the original rough and approximation methods, with the help of outer outline 3D scanning of the corn granule, scanning data are processed into the data that can be identified by Pro/ENGINEER, which are saved in the data base in this paper; through data mining, approximation simulation of ball filling is done to corn granule with cavity in the working environment of Pro/ENGINEER, which offers real, accurate and workable data for analysis and calculation of discrete element software behind the service.

The construction process of water conveyance tunnel is complex and stochastic under the karst geological condition. Aiming at analyzing the construction process under this special condition, a simulation modeling method of water conveyance tunnel construction is presented. Through demonstrating the simulation analysis and predicting the schedules in a real case study of a water conveyance tunnel, this method is proved advanced and intuitive for formulating and analyzing the construction schedules under the karst geological condition.
