Quantum strategies have been successfully applied to game theory for years. However, as a reverse problem of game theory, the theory of mechanism design is ignored by physicists. In this paper, the theory of mechanism design is generalized to a quantum domain. The main result is that by virtue of a quantum mechanism, agents who satisfy a certain condition can combat "bad" social choice rules instead of being restricted by the traditional mechanism design theory.

The theme of this chapter includes topics of matching, auction and negotiation. We have shown that the knowledge of game theory is very important when designing an agent-based matching or negotiation system. The problem of bounded rationality in multi¬-agent systems is also discussed; we put forward the mechanism design and heuristic methods as solutions. A real negotiation scenario is presented to demonstrate our proposed solutions. In addition, we discuss the future trends of the agent technology in e¬commerce system.

In this chapter, we introduce a gamification mechanism for advertising in mobile cloud. Gamification for advertising uses game thinking and mechanism in non-game contexts to engage users in developing and deliver advertising content suitable for mobile devices. To support this gamification advertising mechanism, we develop a cloud based service platform for media integration and distribution, supporting flexible interactions and collaboration among media content providers, advertisers, and developers. Contribution of this chapter is it introduces game theory and mechanism design into gamification for advertising which is demonstrated as feasible and just in time. And the gamifiation for advertising is the first in the literature ever discussed as we know in the context of mechanism design. A layering solution with introduction of an advertising layer for developing gamified applications for mobile devices is also the first ever in the literature as we know.

We put forward a modeling and algorithmic framework to design and optimize mechanisms in dynamic industrial environments where a designer can make use of the data generated in the process to automatically improve future design. Our solution, coined reinforcement mechanism design, is rooted in game theory but incorporates recent AI techniques to get rid of nonrealistic modeling assumptions and to make automated optimization feasible. We instantiate our framework on the key application scenarios of Baidu and Taobao, two of the largest mobile app companies in China. For the Taobao case, our framework automatically designs mechanisms that allocate buyer impressions for the e-commerce website; for the Baidu case, our framework automatically designs dynamic reserve pricing schemes of advertisement auctions of the search engine. Experiments show that our solutions outperform the state-of-the-art alternatives and those currently deployed, under both scenarios.

AbstractGame theory is becoming central to the design and analysis of computational mechanisms in which multiple entities interact strategically. The tools of mechanism design are used extensively to engineer incentives for truth revelation into resource allocation (e.g. combinatorial auctions) and preference aggregation protocols (e.g. voting). We argue that mechanism design can also be useful in the design of logical inference procedures. In particular, it can help us understand and engineer inference procedures when knowledge is distributed among self-interested agents. We set a research agenda for this emerging area, and point to some early research efforts.

In recent years, the digital economy has experienced a growing number of transactions. Traditional dispute resolution methods such as court and international arbitration are ineffective for handling a large volume of small value claims across national borders. Decentralized justice is a new approach to online dispute resolution that combines blockchain, crowdsourcing and game theory in order to produce resolution systems which are radically more efficient than existing methods. This article offers a review of the decentralized justice industry and of the key players participating in it. It presents a number of key dimensions of the industry and reviews the mechanism design choices made by these different platforms. Finally, it discusses a growth hypothesis for the industry and how it may grow in the future.
