A new record of Plectropomus pessuliferus (Serranidae: Epinephelinae) wasdocumented based on morphological characters and DNA barcoding. The species was collectedduring a regular survey for making an inventory of reef associated fishes in Saint Martin`sIsland, Bangladesh. This is the first report of roving coral grouper from the marine waters ofBangladesh validated by morpho-meristic analysis and DNA barcoding. This is also the firstreport from the northern Bay of Bengal.

Trimanto, Hapsari L. 2018. Short communication: A new record of Etlingera megalocheilos (Griff.) A.D. Poulsen(Zingiberaceae) in Sulawesi, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 19: 1227-1235. A through morphological examination has been conducted to aliving specimen of Zingiberaceae collection of Purwodadi Botanic Garden, East Java which was collected from Pangi Binangga NatureReserve, Central Sulawesi. The result showed that the characters of the species match very well with the description of Etlingeramegalocheilos. The distribution of E. megalocheilos was previously reported to occur only in Sundaland includes Peninsular Malaysia,Singapore, Sumatra, Java, and Borneo. Thus, E. megalocheilos is a newly recorded species in Sulawesi; and confirmed that itsdistribution record now has expanded to Wallacea. The key morphological characters of E. megalocheilos are labellum hourglassshaped,dull red or red to orange-red with the yellow margin, the anther is not covered by the corolla lobe, and have slightly angledfilament. Detailed descriptions, photographs, and notes of the species are presented in this paper. Due to its high potential medicinalproperties, further bioprospecting studies are necessary to conduct.

The present study reports a new record of two marine fishes Filimanus similis (Feltes 1991) and Naso unicornis (Forsskål 1775) from Bangladesh waters. The specimens were collected from Saint Martin’s Island and Cox’s Bazar fish landing canter, Bangladesh. The specimens were diagnosed by analyzing their morphometric characters and DNA barcoding. The study also reports Naso as the first species of the genus ever recorded in the marine waters of Bangladesh.

The Labridae is a species-rich family of colorful fishes distributed globally in different habitats. Polylepion cruentum was described based on type material collected from the Gulf of California, and Quepos, Pacific coast of Costa Rica. It has since been reported from several other localities, including Mexico to Nicaragua and the Cocos Island. Recent collecting efforts in Northern Peru yielded an unusual species of labrid with uncertain taxonomic identity. Measurements, counts, coloration (in life and preserved) and DNA barcoding of the specimen agrees well with Polylepion cruentum. This represents the first record of the species from Northern Peru (Acapulco, Tumbes Department) and South America. The expansion of the distribution range of this species is perhaps due to the input of warm waters to Northern Peru, increasing especially during El Niño events. This new record is important to include in future marine checklists and consequently evaluate the conservation status of this species in Peru.
