ABSTRACT Microcystis aeruginosa is a globally well-known bloom-forming cyanobacterium. An improved draft whole-genome sequence of M. aeruginosa NIES-298, which is a microcystin-producing strain isolated from Lake Kasumigaura, Japan, is published here. The genome comprises approximately 5.0 Mbp, with an average G+C content of 42.6% and 4,537 predicted protein-coding genes.

Microcystis aeruginosa is a well-known bloom-forming cyanobacterium. We newly sequenced the whole genome of M. aeruginosa NIES-98, which is a non-microcystin-producing strain isolated from Lake Kasumigaura, Japan. The genome contains approximately 5.0 Mbp, with an average G+C content of 42.41% and 5,140 predicted protein-coding genes.

ABSTRACT The draft genome sequence of a methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) sequence type 39 (ST 39) isolate obtained from the dried ribbonfish of Gujarat, India, is reported here. Staphylococcus-specific genes were present in this MRSA isolate. The whole-genome sequence of this strain contains 2,693 protein-coding genes and 70 RNAs within the 2.82-Mb genome.

ABSTRACT “ Candidatus Phycosocius bacilliformis” is an alphaproteobacterial ectosymbiont of the hydrocarbon-producing green alga Botryococcus braunii . We sequenced the whole genome of “ Ca. P. bacilliformis” BOTRYCO-2, isolated from a two-membered culture with B. braunii . The genome contains approximately 3.3 Mb, with an average G+C content of 56.91% and 3,125 predicted protein-coding genes.

ABSTRACTWe report here the whole-genome sequence ofNostoc cycadaestrain WK-1, which was isolated from cyanobacterial colonies growing in the coralloid roots of the gymnospermCycas revoluta. It can provide valuable resources to study the mutualistic relationships and the syntrophic metabolisms between the cyanobacterial symbiont and the host plant,C. revoluta.
