Dendrobium moiorum Saputra, Schuit., Wanma & Naive (Orchidaceae; Epidendroideae; Dendrobieae), a new endemic species from West Papua, Indonesia, is described and illustrated. The new species resembles Dendrobium isthmiferum and the diagnostic differences are discussed. Information on distribution, ecology, phenology and conservation status are provided.

Beaucarnea olsonii is described and illustrated from tropical deciduous forests of SW Puebla, Mexico. The new species can be distinguished from other Beaucarnea species by its massively swollen base that abruptly tapers into slender branches, by its conspicuously long stigma, and by its pedicel articulation that occurs at 2/3 of the length of the pedicel below the flower. With this new addition, the total number of endemic species of Beaucarnea for Mexico increases to 10, making this country the greatest center of diversification and endemism for the genus. We also provide a distribution map and a conservation status recommendation for the new species, as well as a key to the Beaucarnea species of southern central Mexico.

We describe here Begonia medeiroii, a narrow endemic species from the Atlantic Rainforest. The conservation status of this species was assessed as critically endangered according to IUCN criteria. This species resembles to B. catharinensis and B. hirtella in some characteristics, differing among other features due the presence of adventitious vegetative buds on the adaxial surface of the leaves.

A new species of Senecio section Adamantina is here described as Senecio hortensiae (Senecioneae, Asteraceae), an endemic species from Parque Nacional dos Pontões Capixabas, Espírito Santo state, Brazil. This new species is recognised by the sessile leaves densely clustered at the median part of the stem and by the radiate capitula in a terminal lax panicle. It is closely related to Senecio graciellae but differs basically by the size and margins of the leaves, capitulescence and number of ray florets. Illustrations, comments, distribution map, and conservation status are provided for the new species. Additionally, a diagnostic key to the species of Senecio section Adamantina is provided.

Onosma ghahremanii (Boraginaceae) is described and illustrated as a new endemic species from the Alborz Mts., N Iran. The new species is related to O. gaubae, O. borragoidinum and O. microcarpum, but differs from them in indumentum type, corolla color and stamen characteristics. Some notes are also presented on the ecology, distribution, and conservation status of the new species and a distribution map is provided.

Chamaecrista irwiniana, a new species of Chamaecrista sect. Absus subsect. Absus ser. Rigidulae, is here described and illustrated. Its morphological affinities, geographical distribution, ecology, conservation status, and information about leaf anatomy are also presented. Additionally, a complete description, distribution, and the first illustration of C. nummulariifolia, an endemic species to the states of Goiás and Minas Gerais, classified as vulnerable according to the IUCN guidelines, are provided.

A new species of gecko of the genus Hemidactylus (Squamata: Gekkonidae) is described from São Nicolau Island, Cabo Verde Archipelago, and the Sal and Boavista island populations of Hemidactylus boavistensis (i.e., Hemidactylus boavistensis boavistensis comb. nov. and Hemidactylus boavistensis chevalieri comb. nov.) are recognized as subspecies. Hemidactylus nicolauensis sp. nov. is genetically distinct from H. bouvieri, to which it has previously been referred, and from all other closely related endemic Hemidactylus from Cabo Verde Islands in mitochondrial (12S & cyt b) and nuclear (RAG2, MC1R) markers. It is characterized morphologically by its distinct colouration and a diagnostically different arrangement of digital lamellae. With the description of this new species, São Nicolau is now known to harbour three single-island endemic gecko species, and the documented reptile diversity in Cabo Verde is raised to 23 endemic species. As a result of our taxonomic changes, existing conservation regulations should be updated and the conservation status of these taxa should be re-evaluated.

Mimosa is a very large genus with more than 540 species, which are distributed mainly in the Neotropics and are especially diverse in the Cerrado, where the genus shows high rates of endemism.         The Serra do Cabral mountain range, which is part of the Espinhaço mountain range, contains representative remnants of the Cerrado and is a very important area for the genus, where at least 20 taxa of Mimosa are reported. Unfortunately, it is a threatened and over-exploited region. Here we describe a new narrow endemic species from the Serra do Cabral, Mimosa osmarii, that shows affinities with M. paucifolia var. scoparia, a sympatric taxon. The conservation status of M. osmarii was assessed as vulnerable.

A new species of Acanthocereus, endemic from southern Jalisco, is described and illustrated. Acanthocereus atropurpureus distinguishes by the diameter of mature stems, presence of low ribs with sinuate margins, dull green stem epidermis turning purple during dry season, and the occurrence of four small central spines. We discuss the morphological differences from other Acanthocereus species and we provide information about its habitat and conservation status.

Discospermum philippinensis, a new endemic species from the Philippines, is here described and illustrated. The species is similar to D. whitfordii because of a persistent calyx and a prominent disk below the fruit apex, from which it can be distinguished by leaf blades 5.5–15.5 × 3.5–6.5 cm, acute to attenuate leaf apex (vs. 4.5–10.0 × 2.0–4.5, caudate in D. whitfordii), fruits faintly ribbed, smaller with thin mesocarp (vs. non-ribbed, with a thick mesocarp), and 4–6 seeds per locule (vs. 5–12).

Abstract—Baccharis funkiae, a new species endemic to Uruguay, is described and illustrated here. We also provide field work pictures, etymology, distribution and habitat, and preliminary conservation status information. Comments on how to differentiate it from the morphologically similar B. subopposita, highlighting differences setting the new species apart are discussed. Additionally, a key to the identification of the Uruguayan species belonging to Baccharis subgen. Baccharis sect. Cylindricae is presented.
