The genus Cornutalis Sakakibara currently includes two valid species, Cornutalis cauca Sakakibara, 1997 (from Colombia) and C. valida Sakakibara, 1997 (from Ecuador). Herein, a new species, Cornutalis andinum sp. n., is described from the highlands in Colombia; additionally, a host plant is recorded for the first time for the genus. Also, a distribution map, a key to the species, and observations on the location and preservation state of type-specimens are included.

A new species of the genus Birdantis Stål, 1863 (Hemiptera: Fulgoridae), B. bhaskarai sp. nov. from Larat Island (Tanimbar), is described. Birdantis collaris (Walker, 1870) stat. rev. and B. trilineata (Schmidt, 1926) stat. rev. are reinstated as valid species, respectively from status of subspecies and as junior synonym of B. delibuta Stål, 1863. These four species, as well as the other one previously described from the Maluku Islands, B. decens Stål, 1863, are illustrated from their type specimens. An identification key, a distribution map, illustrations of habitus and details of male genitalia are provided. The synonymy between Myrilla Distant, 1888 and Birdantis is formally reinstated and all species formerly placed in the subgenus Birdantis (Myrilla) are transferred to Birdantis sensu stricto. Birdantis is transferred to the subfamily Aphaeninae Blanchard, 1847 and now contains eighteen species distributed in Maluku (five species), New Guinea and neighbouring islands (ten species) and Australia (three species).

The genus Ptycholoma Stephens, 1829 is a small Archipini genus comprised of four species distributed in the Palaearctic and Oriental Regions (Brown, 2005; Baixeras et al., 2008). Three species have been recorded from China: P. lecheana (Linneaus), P. imitator (Walsingham), and P. micantana (Kennel). Liu (2002) recorded P. plumbeolana (Bremer), but it subsequently was transferred to Clepsis. During field work in South China we discovered an undescribed species in this genus. The purpose of this paper is describe the new species and provide a comparison between it and its closest relative, P. lecheana. A key and the distribution map of Ptycholoma from China are provided.

Hyidiothrips guangdongensis sp. n., a new species of the subfamily Phlaeothripinae (Thysanoptera, Phlaeothripidae) is described from China. The new species is similar to Hyidiothrips japonicus Okajima, but can be distinguished from the latter by the following features: pronotum longer than head; antennal segment I brown, segment II yellowish and segments III–VII dark brown; median sclerite of pelta blunt posteriorly, separated from anterior sclerite, posterior sclerite distinctly divided into two lateral plates in female. The type specimens are deposited at the Insect Collection, Department of Entomology, South China Agricultural University.

The members of the genus Neopseustis Meyrick, 1909 from China are reviewed, and a key to the species is given. Neopseustis moxiensis Chen & Owada is described as a new species, characterized by the monotonous fuscous hindwings, and by the compressed clavate tegumenal lobes as well as slender uncinate apex of valvae. All the type specimens of new species are deposited in the Department of Entomology, South China Agricultural University, Guangzhou, China. Neopseustis fanjingshana Yang, 1988 (type locality: Guizhou) is redescribed on the basis of a male specimen, collected in Hunan. Diagnoses, notes and collecting data are given for N. bicornuta, N. sinensis, N. meyricki and N. archiphenax. A checklist of the Neopseustidae (4 genera, 13 species) is provided with their distribution.

With unique climate, topography, and vegetation, the Qinghai-Tibet plateau is a special biogeographic region with richness of endemic species. However, the taxonomy and distribution of many insect groups on this plateau are still poorly known. Here, we synthesized a species checklist of subfamily Gomphomastacinae (Orthoptera: Acridoidea: Eumastacidae) for this region, while describing a new species: Myrmeleomastax wideis Qiu, sp. nov.. Images of the new species and the distribution map of all the known species are provided. Type specimens for the new species are deposited in the Zoological and Botanical Museum, Shaanxi Normal University, Xi’an, China (SNNU).

Sternocampsuscoriaceus, sp. nov. is described and illustrated from China. A new combination, Campsosternuscastaneus (Jiang & Wang, 1999) is proposed. A key and a checklist of the known species, together with a distribution map of Chinese Sternocampsus species, are provided.

Abstract—Justicia rubrobracteata, a new species from northeastern Brazil, is described and illustrated. The new species is morphologically similar to J. aequilabris due to its shrubby habit, and terminal and axillary spicate inflorescences with red flowers. However, J. rubrobracteata is differentiated mainly by the shape and color of its bracts and bracteoles as well as an orangish macula in the corolla, and a torulose capsule. In addition, J. rubrobracteata is only known from northeastern Brazil, from the states of Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte, while J. aequilabris is widely distributed in Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay. A table with the main morphological characters of both species is included, as well as photographs, a key to species of Justicia for the states of Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte in northeastern Brazil, a distribution map of both species, and conservation data for the new species.

Abstract—We present a new species, Turnera fasciculifolia, from the Jalapão region, the largest continuous protected area of Cerrado in Tocantins State, in central Brazil. The new species belongs to Turnera series Leiocarpae, and it can be recognized by the linear ericoid leaves with revolute margin, generally without extrafloral nectaries, and the basal leaves of the young axillary branches gathered in fascicles. We provide a description, illustrations, a distribution map, and a comparison with T. genistoides and T. revoluta, which also have ericoid leaves.
