Neocordulia santacatarinensis sp. n. is described and illustrated based on a reared male and its exuviae collected at Irani river, Ponte Serrada, Santa Catarina State, Brazil. Holotype is deposited in the Museu Nacional, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Valeriana iganciana, an endemic species from the Serra do Tabuleiro highlands of Santa Catarina state, southern Brazil, is described and illustrated. The new species shares morphological affinities with V. ulei, from which it is distinguished mainly by leaves with entire margin, by the cymose architecture of the inflorescence and by the triquetrous and elliptical fruits with annular to dentate calyx.

Pherania giupponii sp. nov. is herein described from a coastal island in Santa Catarina state, southern Brazil. The genus Pherania Strand, 1942, was hitherto monotypic and the type species, Pherania pygmaea (Sørensen, 1932), is known from the nearby mainland. A new diagnosis is given to Pherania and the geographic distribution of the two species is illustrated on a map.

This contribution presents and describes Tradescantia serrana, a new species from the edges of Araucaria forest in the highlands of southern Santa Catarina state, southern Brazil. Illustrations, photographs and a distribution map for the new species are provided. Here, we also typify T. umbraculifera, a species morphologically related to T. serrana, and present evidence against the synonymisation of T. schwirkowskiana with T. crassula proposed by Pellegrini et al. (2017). Furthermore, we extend the distribution of T. schwirkowskiana to Paraná state.

Here we describe a new species of Prosopanche from southern Brazil. This is the first report of Prosopanche in Santa Catarina state and for the Atlantic Forest region. We present field photographs, illustrations, ecologic and conservation comments on the new species. We contrast the morphology of the new species with the other Prosopanche species that occur in Brazil, P. bonacinai and P. caatinguicola. The new species is morphologically similar to P. bonacinai, which has anthers composed by 20–30 thecae, synandrium 15–25 × 6–8 mm and tepals 35–55 × 9–20 mm vs. anthers composed by 3–4 thecae, synandrium 5–6 × 3–4 mm and tepals 15–20 × 5–8 mm in P. demogorgoni.

During field works in Santa Catarina state, we found a new species of Chascolytrum that presents a bulb-like rhizome. This species is similar to Chascolytrum bulbosum, from Pampa biome, differing by glabrous leaf blades, inflorescences larger and laxer, longer spikelets and paleas glabrous between the keels. We additionally provide field and studio photographs and assess its conservation status according to IUCN criteria.

We describe here Begonia medeiroii, a narrow endemic species from the Atlantic Rainforest. The conservation status of this species was assessed as critically endangered according to IUCN criteria. This species resembles to B. catharinensis and B. hirtella in some characteristics, differing among other features due the presence of adventitious vegetative buds on the adaxial surface of the leaves.

Four nominal southern Brazilian species of Gonyleptinae are studied: Geraecormobius clavifemur (Mello-Leit„o, 1927), Mischonyx meridionalis (Mello-Leit„o, 1927), Ariaeus tuberculatus S¡¥rensen, 1932 and a new species of Geraecormobius Holmberg, 1887. Mischonyx meridionalis and Ariaeus tuberculatus are herein considered junior subjective synonyms of Geraecormobius clavifemur. Ariaeus S¡¥rensen, 1932 is herein considered a junior subjective synonym of Geraecormobius. New records are recorded for G. clavifemur, hitherto known only from the type locality, Blumenau, Santa Catarina state, Brazil. Geraecormobius reitzi n. sp., is described from Santa Catarina state, Brazil and considered closest to G. clavifemur, based upon general aspects of external morphology. The two species occur at different altitudes. G. clavifemur inhabits the lower part of the Atlantic Plateau of Santa Catarina at 0 to 300 m, whereas Geraecormobius reitzi n. sp. occurs at higher elevations.

A new diagnosis for the genus Stenoterommata Holmberg, 1881 is presented and six new species are described from Santa Catarina state, southern Brazil: S. pavesii sp. nov. and S. leticiae sp. nov. from Blumenau and Balneário Camboriú; S. sevegnaniae sp. nov. from Blumenau; S. gugai sp. nov., S. peri sp. nov. and S. pescador sp. nov. from Santa Catarina Island, Florianópolis. New records of S. palmar Goloboff, 1995 from southern Brazil are provided. Information on the natural history and habitat are included for all the species. In addition, Hermacha iricolor Mello-Leitão, 1923, described from Blumenau, is transferred to Rachias Simon, 1892.

AbstractA new species of Nippostrongylinae (Nematoda: Heligmonellidae), Stilestrongylus rolandoi n. sp., is described from specimens collected from the small intestine of the rodent Euryoryzomys russatus in the Atlantic Forest (Santo Amaro da Imperatriz, Santa Catarina state, southern Brazil). The genus Stilestrongylus includes 23 species, which parasitize rodents occurring in the Neotropical region. Stilestrongylus aureus (Durette-Desset & Sutton, 1985) from Argentina, S. azarai (Durette-Desset & Sutton, 1985) from Argentina, S. flavescens (Sutton & Durette-Desset, 1991) from Uruguay, S. franciscanus (Digiani & Durette-Desset, 2002) from Argentina, S. gracielae (Digiani & Durette-Desset, 2006) from Argentina, and S. oryzomysi (Sutton & Durette-Desset, 1991) from Argentina are closely related to Stilestrongylus rolandoi n. sp., all having caudal bursa patterns of types 1–4 in one of the lobes. Stilestrongylus rolandoi n. sp. is distinguished from the aforementioned species by its ray 6 being short in relation to rays 4 and 5, which are long and robust, and by having caudal bursa patterns of types 1–4 in both lobes. The new species has 27 ridges in the mid-body in males, and 24 in females, and has one of the highest ratios of spicule length to body length (21−33%) in this genus.
