Resilience refers to one’s ability to adapt and navigate through challenges in the face of a chronic illness and disability (CID). Originally reported in posttraumatic stress literature, resilience has been studied in various contexts; however, very few studies have been conducted from a virtue perspective. Virtue, in psychological terms, is consistent, everyday action toward a worthwhile pursuit, based on one’s values. From a virtue perspective, resilience is defined as a positive by-product of having endured adversities while transforming them into insightful opportunities for renewal. This article introduces the virtue-based psychosocial adaptation model (V-PAM) and its applicability to the study of resilience. College students with CID ( N = 256) were recruited, and their resilience was empirically examined based on the proposed model.

To examine posttraumatic stress symptoms in college students with a chronic illness, volunteers who endorsed having a chronic illness (N = 61) were administered the Posttraumatic Diagnostic Scale (PTDS: Foa, Cashman, Jaycox, & Perry, 1997). Over 50% met criteria for reexperiencing symptoms and interference with functioning; however, few participants met criteria for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Higher threat appraisals (endorsement of A criteria, general appraisal/level of pessimism) explained a significant portion of the variance in total PTSD symptoms beyond the significant contributions of anxiety, life events, and illness interference with daily functioning. Findings document the presence of posttraumatic stress symptoms among college students with chronic illness and highlight the role of anxiety and perceived threat in the development of symptoms. College students face a number of demands from chronic illness and stressors not related to their health indicating the need for services targeted at responses to stress.

ABSTRACT The present study was undertaken to assess the skeletal craniofacial asymmetry in South Indian population by a posteroanterior cephalometric radiographic method. The skeletal craniofacial structures on one side of the face were compared with that of the other, by drawing various triangles representing different craniofacial regions. The sample consisted of 60 subjects (30 males and 30 females) aged between 18 to 25 years, who were mainly dental college students from South India. Overall 52 X-rays were obtained, with four errors each in the male and the female groups. The results revealed that the total facial structures in the South Indian population were larger on the left side (statistically insignificant). The cranial base area exhibited a greater degree of asymmetry than any other component area of the face, which might be due to the inaccuracy at the condylar point. During 2020, in the face of the recession caused by the COVID19 pandemic, public and private sectors suffer massive losses that force them to promote strategies for immediate reactivation. Education in México, despite estimating a considerable lag, had a favorable reaction towards "online classes” in all education levels. Through technological resources, administrative, teachers, parents and students were involved without having the opportunity to be questioned. As a result of this, a study was proposed with a quantitative approach and descriptive method, to keep record of the effects presented by college students before this modality. Natural stress is associated with social isolation through dimensions involving ICTs with the aim of diagnosing the personal, family, social and technological impact on college students in San Luis Potosí, to determine the effects that are adverse to their learning and professional life. The results will contribute to the development of strategies associated with the effective use of the ICTs that institutions offer and facilitate the teaching-learning process; the study also concluded according to the integral well-being of the student in this new modality.
