This article describes a pilot project in which eleven out-patients of the Occupational Therapy Department at the Montreal Children's Hospital were integrated into a summer day camp of a local YMCA. The objectives of this program are outlined, as well as the actual description of the camp program. An evaluation of the project examines the results of a questionnaire administered to the subjects' parents before and after the camp experience as well as a discussion of some additional advantages and disadvantages observed in the program. It appears that there are many indications for screening and treating children in the community, and that providing occupational therapy services to children in their natural milieu may be of significant benefit to the child. It is suggested that the integration of occupational therapy in the community be carried out permanently and extensively and that such programs deserve further study.

A pilot study was undertaken to consider the effect of occupational therapy on the motor proficiency of children with motor/learning difficulties. Intervention was based on Ayres' model of sensory integration. Motor proficiency was assessed before and after 10 sessions of occupational therapy. The assessment tool used was the Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency. The subjects were five children attending mainstream primary schools. Change was noted in all cases: four subjects improved whilst one deteriorated. Further data are required for statistical analysis; however, the mean standard score improved. Age appeared to be a factor in the level of improvement attained. Recommendations for future studies are made in relation to assessment techniques and study design.

In 1978 the author's predecessor introduced pressure garments into the occupational therapy department as a method of preventing and correcting post-burn hypertrophic scarring. Since then they have treated over 700 patients and in 1986–87 made upwards of 2,400 garments. In this article the treatment, management and financial implications of this service are discussed in the light of past experience and present situation.
