Shift towards mechanization in the municipal solid waste management (MSWM) is aimed at improving health wellbeing of the workers who are manually handling waste. With huge investment and operating costs, proper evaluation and monitoring of the performances of these equipment is essential. Identifying and rating the factors which impact the performance of equipment is the first step towards improving efficiency of a system. This research identifies the critical factors and issues in the operation optimization of refuse compactor vehicles. Interviews with experts and field studies helped in identification of 30 factors which were divided in five categories. The research uses analytical hierarchy process (AHP) for finding out the priority vectors of thus identified factors and categories. The study also highlights equipment selection parameters for the best suited model and make.

A identificação de áreas suscetíveis a inundações é essencial para o gerenciamento de desastres e definição de políticas públicas. O objetivo deste trabalho é a apresentação de um método para identificação de áreas suscetíveis a inundações através da integração de informações geográficas provenientes de técnicas do Sensoriamento Remoto, as ferramentas do Sistema de Informação Geográfica (SIG), a lógica Fuzzy e a aplicação de Métodos de Análise Multicritério (MAM) Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Para atingir o objetivo foi proposto um estudo de caso, localizado na Bacia do Rio Bengalas, nos municípios de Nova Friburgo e Bom Jardim (Região Serrana do Rio de Janeiro). A modelagem espacial multicritério foi realizada a partir da seleção de um conjunto de dados composto por informações geomorfológicas, hidrológicas e de uso e ocupação do solo. Como resultado, obteve-se um mapa de suscetibilidade a inundações para a região. A coerência do modelo gerado foi verificada a partir do histórico de inundações da bacia do Rio Bengalas. A metodologia, apresentou-se eficiente e adequada para a determinação de áreas suscetíveis a inundações, prevendo com sucesso a distribuição espacial de áreas com riscos a inundações.  Spatial modelling of flood-susceptible areas based on a hybrid multi-criteria model and Geographic Information System: a case study applied to the Bengalas River basin A B S T R A C TThe identification of areas susceptible to flooding is essential for disaster management and public policy making. The objective of this work is the presentation of a method for the identification of areas susceptible to floods through the integration of geographic information from Remote Sensing techniques, Geographic Information System (GIS) tools, Fuzzy logic and the application of Multicriteria Analysis Methods (MAM) Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). In order to achieve the objective, a case study was proposed, located in the Bengalas River Basin, in the municipalities of Nova Friburgo and Bom Jardim (Mountain Region of Rio de Janeiro). Multicriteria spatial modeling was performed by selecting a data set composed of geomorphological, hydrological and land use information. As a result, a flood susceptibility map was obtained for the region. The coherence of the generated model was verified from the flood history of the Bengalas River basin. The methodology was efficient and adequate for the determination of areas susceptible to floods, successfully predicting the spatial distribution of areas at risk of flooding.Keywords: flood susceptibility. <p>Public awareness about healthy lifestyles leads people to want to understand more about the food they consume. Choosing organic vegetables is one alternative choices when seeking to have a healthy body and healthy lifestyle. Unfortunately, not a lot of organic vegetable farmers in Indonesia succeed in seizing the organic vegetable market rather than the non-organic and the competition with imported organic vegetables into Indonesia prevents farmers from thriving. This study aims to: 1) Analyze the factors affecting the competitiveness of the organic vegetables market; 2) Analyze the appropriate strategy for increasing the competitiveness of the organic vegetables market; 3) Analyze the factors priority strategies for improving the competitiveness of the organic vegetables market. Porter's Generic Model and Analysis Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used to determine the best strategy. The research found that organic vegetables marketing channels are still dominated by conventional market; the higher cost for intensive cultivation of organic vegetables. The main strategies are derived from the analysis is focusing on market delivery. There needs to be retailers of organic vegetables either modern or traditional to display these products. The establishment of organic vegetable outlets and online marketing that are not dependent on large retail (hypermarket) become recommendations in this study.</p><p><em><strong>Bahasa Indonesia Abstrak:</strong> Kesadaran masyarakat tentang gaya hidup sehat memberi pilihan kepada masyarakat untuk memahami makanan yang mereka konsumsi. Pilihan sayuran organik merupakan salah satu alternatif untuk memiliki tubuh sehat dan gaya hidup sehat bagi masyarakat. Sayangnya, tidak banyak petani sayuran organik di Indonesia yang berhasil merebut pasar sayuran organik daripada non organic. Persaingan produk impor sayuran organik ke Indonesia membuat petani tidak bisa berkembang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) Menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi daya saing pasar sayuran organik; 2) Menganalisis strategi yang tepat untuk meningkatkan daya saing pasar sayuran organik; 3) Menganalisis faktor strategi prioritas untuk meningkatkan daya saing pasar sayuran organik. Model Generik Porter dan Analisis Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) digunakan untuk menentukan strategi terbaik. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa saluran pemasaran sayuran organik masih didominasi oleh pasar konvensional; Biaya yang lebih tinggi untuk budidaya sayuran organik secara intensif. Strategi utama yang didapat dari analisis adalah strategi fokus pada pengiriman pasar. Perlu ada pengecer sayuran organik baik modern maupun tradisional untuk memasarkan produk ini. Pembukaan gerai sayuran organik dan pemasaran online yang tidak tergantung pada ritel besar (hypermarket) menjadi rekomendasi pada penelitian ini.</em></p>

Sistem pendukung keputusan merupakan sistem berbasis komputer interaktif, yang membantu para pengambil keputusan untuk menggunakan data dan model untuk memecahkan masalah yang tidak terstruktur. Penilaian kinerja guru adalah proses analisis dalam rangka menghasilkan pengajar yang baik, dikhawatirkan akan adanya penilaian bersifat subjektif yang dapat menilmbulkan kecemburuan sosial bagi guru yang tidak mendapatkan nilai yang baik. Maka, dirancanglah sebuah sistem pendukung keputusan dengan menggunakan metode Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP). FAHP adalah penggabungan dari algoritma Fuzzy Logic dengan algoritma Analytic Hierarchy Process.

This study is done to find out the equation for reservoir induced seismicity. The mechanism and histories of reservoir induced seismicity are studied first to find out the factors affecting reservoir induced seismicity. A questionnaire survey is done to get an opinion of an expert on the effect of all the factors affecting reservoir induced seismicity. The results obtained from this questionnaire survey is used to find out the respective weightages of the factors by analytical hierarchy process. In the second part of the study, seismic details of 20 seismic and aseismic dams are found out in a questionnaire survey format. These details along with the weights found out in the first part of the study is used to find out the equation for reservoir induced seismicity by regression analysis.
