From weakly acidified solutions of sodium molybdate by addition of tetrabutylammonium ions an iso-octamolybdate [N(C4H9)4]4Mo8 O26 is formed whose anion has a structure different from the known alkali or ammonium octamolybdates. Single crystals are obtainable by reaction in organic solvents. The IR and Raman spectra are presented. The decomposition of the anion by aging in dichloroethane in solution was investigated by UV spectroscopy. This study offers new aspects concerning the mechanism of polymolybdate ion formation.

Heteropolymolybdates are obtainable from nonaqueous solutions. They are formed by reaction of molybdates or isopolymolybdates soluble in organic solvents with oxo acids or metal salts.Compounds with the anions TeMo6O246-, MIIIMo6O24H63- (MIII = Fe, Al, Cr), ΜIIMo6O24Η64- (MII = Zn, Cu, Co, Ni), PMo12O403-, as well as the novel heteropolyanion Ρ2Mo4O194- were obtained. The IR and Raman spectra are discussed.

AbstractIn the process of polymerization of aniline in aqueous solution, different kinds or volumes of organic solvents were added. The effects of the organic solvents on the morphology, structure, conductivity and water-dispersity of the resulting polyaniline (PANI) were investigated with the aid of SEM, UV-Vis, FT-IR and Raman spectra and conductivity measurements. The results showed that the weak H-bond interactions between PANI and the solvents might play an important role in forming uniform nanofibers with relatively high conductivity and good waterdispersity. However, excessive addition of organic solvents led to the aggregation of the nanofibers and the corresponding PANI had a bad water-dispersity.

Forsterite single crystals were grown by the Czochralski technique in air. The lattice parameters were determined by X-ray power diffraction. The IR and Raman spectra of pure and doped (V3+, V5+, and Ni4+) Mg2SiO4 single crystals were measured at room temperature. We studied the phonon properties and discussed the influence of dopants.
