AbstractThe reaction of Cu(II) nitrate with sodium 2-chlorobenzoate (NaL1) and (E)-1,2-di(pyridin-4-yl)ethene (dpe) yields a new complex [Cu(L1)2(dpe)(H2O)] (1). When Zn(II) nitrate reacts with sodium 4-chlorobenzoate (NaL2) and 1,2-di(pyridin-4-yl)ethane (dpa), [Zn(L2)2(dpa)]·CH3OH (2) is obtained. Complexes 1 and 2 have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, and elemental and thermogravimetric analyses. 1 shows a 3D CdS network structure with uninodal 4-connected (65.8) topology; complex 2 displays a chain structure.

AbstractTwo Mn(II) complexes, {[Mn(BIPMO)2Cl2] · 2(H2O)}n (1) and {[Mn(BIPMO)2(SCN)2] · 2(CH3OH)}n (2) (BIPMO = bis(4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl)methanone) with V-shaped BIPMO ligands, were synthesized and characterized by IR spectroscopy and elemental analyses along with their single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. The Mn(II) ions in 1 and 2 are both six-coordinated to four nitrogen atoms of four BIPMO ligands and two anions (Cl− for 1, and SCN− for 2) to form a distorted octahedral geometry.

Abstract The reaction of Cu(NO3)2·3H2O with N1,N2-di(pyridin- 4-yl)oxalamide (L) and KSCN in the presence of DMF by the layering method gives rise to a new complex [Cu(L2)(SCN)2(DMF)2]n (1). Complex 1 has been characterized by single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, and elemental and thermogravimetric analyses. It crystallizes in the triclinic system with space group P1̅ and shows a chain structure. Delicate N-H···O hydrogen bonding exists in individual units, and adjacent chains are linked by intermolecular interactions, resulting in an extended 2D network.

AbstractTwo coordination polymers (CPs), [Mn(bipmo)(pbtda)(H2O)]n (1), {[Cd(bipmo)(btda)]·2(H2O)]}n (2), (bipmo = bis(4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl)methanone, H2pbtda = 2-phenylbutanedioic acid, H2btda = butanedioic acid), were synthesized by solvothermal methods. The products have been characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The topological structure of 1 is based on 2-nodal nets with the Schläfli symbol {63}{69·8}, while that of 2 features a system with a sixfold penetration with the Schläfli symbol {66}.

AbstractThe hydrothermal reaction of ZnSO4 with 2,5-di(1H-imidazol-4-yl)thiophene (L) at 100°C yields a new complex [Zn(L)(SO4)]n (1). Complex 1 has been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, and elemental and thermogravimetric analyses. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/c with Z=4, and shows a (44.62) network structure. Complex 1 shows fluorescence. Single crystals of L·2H2O were accidentally obtained in hydrothermal reaction attempts of L with MnCl2 at 120°C.

Abstract1,3,5-Tri(1H-imidazol-4-yl)benzene (H3L) reacts with Ni(ClO4)2 · 6H2O under hydrothermal conditions at T = 100°C to yield a new complex: [Ni(H2L)2] · 5.5H2O (1). The product is characterized by single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, and elemental and thermogravimetric analyses. Complex 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c and exhibits a binodal (3,6)-connected 2D kgd network structure with (43)2(46.66.83) topology.

New salts of 2-hydroxyaniline and 2-amino-3-hydroxypyridine with squaric acid were synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy and thermal analyses (TG, DTG and DTA). The crystal structures of bis(2-hydroxyanilinium) squarate, [(C6H8NO+)2(C4O4)2−] (1) and bis(2- amino-3-hydroxy-pyridinium) squarate dihydrate, [(C5H7N2O+)2(C4O4)2−] · 2 H2O (2) were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Both compounds crystallize in the monoclinic system, space group P21/c. The organic ammonium squarates decompose in two thermal steps

A chain Ni (II) coordination polymer material was prepared and characterized by elemental analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in monoclinic, space group C2/c with a = 1.24348(13) nm, b = 1.29477(12) nm, c = 1.51480(17) nm and Dc = 1.401 g•cm-3. The results of structural analysis indicated that each Ni (II) ion forms six-coordinated with nitrogen atoms of pyridine and thiocyanate, and the Ni (II) coordination polymer material formed one dimensional chain structure by the interaction of pyridine rings.

Abstract Three new metal−organic frameworks based on scandium(III) cations and 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylic acid (H2Tdc) are synthesized: [Sc(Tdc)(OH)]·1.2DMF (I), [Sc(Tdc)(OH)]·2/3DMF (II), and (Me2NH2)[Sc3(Tdc)4(OH)2]·DMF (III) (DMF is N,N-dimethylformamide). The structures of the compounds are determined by single-crystal X-ray structure analysis (CIF file CCDC nos. 2067819 (I), 2067820 (II), and 2067821 (III)). The chemical and phase purity of compound I is proved by elemental analysis, thermogravimetry, X-ray diffraction analysis, and IR spectroscopy.

The reaction of closo-B10H102− with PtCl2(PPh3)2 in the presence of MeCOSH afforded the title platinaborane nido-7,7-(PPh3)2-7-PtB10H11-11-OC(O)Me (1), which has been characterized by IR and NMR spectroscopy, MS, elemental analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In contrast to the known products having exo-polyhedral Pt-S-C-O-B ring(s) from the same reaction with Ph- COSH, compound 1 has a B-acetoxy group on the open PtB4 face of the nido-PtB10 cluster. The structure of 1 features both intramolecular/intermolecular C-H· · ·O hydrogen bonds and intramolecular C-H· · ·H-B dihydrogen bonds, which link the molecules into a 1-D chain structure.
