Introduction. The most common malignancy of the biliary tract is gall bladder carcinoma and the main subtype according to the histological classification is Adenocarcinoma. Pure squamous cell carcinoma of the gall bladder is very rare entity accounting for only 1.1-3.7% of the gall bladder carcinomas. It is highly malignant with poor prognosis due to high proliferative rate and local invasiveness to the adjacent organs. The patients are usually diagnosed at an advanced stage with a bulky tumor owing to its aggressive behavior. Aim. In this paper, we describe a female patient with primary pure squamous cell carcinoma of the gall bladder. Description of the case. A 42-year old female patient presented with chief complaints of pain in abdomen associated with nausea and vomiting and gradually progressive jaundice since 02 months. Contrast Enhancing Computed Tomography (CECT) abdomen showed an enhancing mass lesion in gall bladder involving adjacent organs for which she underwent extended cholecystectomy with pancreaticoduodenectomy. Conclusion. Diagnosis as well as the management of this exceptionally rare type of tumour is undoubtedly challenging because of non-specific clinical as well as imaging findings. This case report is an attempt to add to the literary evidence for better pathological as well as clinical understanding of this rare and aggressive entity thereby providing additional material for the early diagnosis as well as the development of effective targeted therapies which will certainly help in increasing the lifespan of these patients.

Primary pure squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the gallbladder is an exceptionally rare type of tumor that comprises only 1% of all gallbladder cancer. SCC of the gallbladder portends a worse prognosis than the more common adenocarcinoma variant because of its aggressive invasion to local structures and because it is often diagnosed at an advanced stage. Owing to its rarity, diagnosis and management can be challenging. Herein, we present the case of a 75-year-old female complaining of abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. Computed tomography and ultrasonography results of the abdomen were consistent with acute cholecystitis and cholelithiasis. Histologic evaluation of the resected mass revealed a malignant tumor with prominent keratinization, confirming the diagnosis of an invasive primary pure SCC of the gallbladder. Microscopic examination showed direct infiltration to the liver, duodenum, and stomach. This case report describes the hospital course of a patient with SCC of the gallbladder and suggests that gallbladder cancer should be considered as part of the differential diagnosis in elderly patients presenting with acute cholecystitis. In addition, this article will review existing literature to examine the utility of different diagnostic techniques and treatment modalities available in the management of gallbladder cancer.

A 62-year-old female patient had occasional bleeding from a massin the urethral meatus. She had been conservatively treated withsteroid ointment at another hospital for 1 year, but the bleedinghad persisted. The patient was therefore referred for further treatment.A reddish mass, measuring 5 mm in diameter was noted atthe posterior lip of the urethral meatus. The mass was diagnosedto be a urethral caruncle and was removed. Microscopically, thesquamous epithelium, which covered the urethral caruncle, wasfound to be keratinized, with the proliferation of atypical cells withswollen nuclei in the entire mucosal layer. The mass was finallydiagnosed to be intraepithelial squamous cell carcinoma arisingfrom the urethral caruncle. The occurrence of intraepithelial squamous cell carcinomaarising from a urethral caruncle is extremely rare. A search of theEnglish literature revealed only 1 other case report.
