ABSTRACT The previously unknown female of Spodochlamys marahuaca Jameson & Ratcliffe, 2011 is described and illustrated for the first time based on two specimens collected in the region of the Juruá River, Amazonas state, Brazil. The specimens constitute a new record for Brazil. The identification key for species of Spodochlamys is updated, as well as the geographic distribution of the other two Brazilian species, S. caesarea Burmeister and S. iheringi Ohaus.

Desmoncus leptoclonos Drude is recorded for the first time for the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Based on this new record, the geographical distribution of Desmoncus Mart. for Brazil is expanded. An identification key to climbing species of Brazilian Desmoncus, a description, a map of geographic distribution, photographs, and comments concerning Desmoncus leptoclonos are provided.

During a survey on Eriophyoid Mites in southwest of East Azerbaijan province (Iran), Aceria zygofabae n. sp. and Aceria alkannae n. sp. were found on Zygophyllum fabago L. (Zygophyllaceae) and Alkanna bracteosa Boiss. (Boraginaceae), respectively. They are described and illustrated here. Four further Aceria species were collected and identified as A. eucricotes (Nalepa, 1892), A. cynodonis Wilson, 1959, A. chenopodia Xue, Sadeghi & Hong, 2009 and A. tristriata (Nalepa, 1890) (protogyne and deutogyne). Aceria cynodonis is a new record for Iran Eriophyoid fauna whereas the other species were found for the first time in East Azerbaijan.

A new species of Placospongia is described from Bahia State, Brazil. Placospongia giseleae sp. nov.. The specimen is found on the underside of rocks in shallow waters (0-20m), and is unique by having a spiculation consisting of two tylostyle categories, selenasters and acanthomicrorhabds. In addition, Placospongia ruetzleri, is recorded for the first time to Bahia state, 2.974 km southwards from its type locality, the Guyana shelf. The diversity of Placospongia species is raised from two to four taxa. An identification key for Western Atlantic Placospongia species is presented.

Arrenuridae inhabiting the Paraná river basin show great diversity relative to that of this family in Argentina and other Neotropical regions, with 38 species (35 studied by the author). In this new contribution Arrenurus mocovi n.sp. is described and A. (Arrenurus) trichophorus Daday is recorded for the first time. The female of this latter species is redescribed and data for the males are added, as well as the geographic distribution of the species. For Arrenurus imperator imperator Lundblad, a Brazilian species, morphometric characteristics are given. The recently created subgenus A. (Brevicaudaturus) is analyzed, within which the last species plus three other neotropical taxa are placed.

Knautia arvensis (L.) Coult. (Caprifoliaceae), collected from Küre Mountains National Park (Kastamonu Section), is reported for the first time for the flora of Turkey. A brief description of the plant along with photographs and distribution map is given. Additionally, its taxonomic relationship with other closely allied taxa are examined and discussed. An identification key to the species of genus Knautia in Turkey is provided.

The taxonomic treatment of Hirtella (Chrysobalanaceae) from Bahia State, Brazil, is presented. We recognize 14 species; H. bicornis is recorded for the first time in the state and H. prancei was originally described from this study. The treatment includes an identification key to species, descriptions and comments on taxa, as well as illustrations and geographic distribution maps of species in Bahia. An identification key to the genera of Chrysobalanaceae in the state is also provided.

Umbyquyra gen. nov., a new Theraphosinae genus with stridulatory bristles on the palpal trocanther of pedipalp trochanter and first leg, is proposed. The genus differs from the other genera with stridulatory bristles on the same segments, Acanthoscurria Ausserer, 1871, Cyrtopholis Simon, 1892, Longilyra Gabriel, 2014 and Nesipelma Schmidt & Kovarik, 1996, by having a palpal bulb with a very short and acuminate embolus and four short keels; separated tibial apophysis; and female spermathecae resembling those of Cyrtopholis, with two seminal receptacles with elongated ducts emerging from a common area. Cyrtopholis palmarum Schiapelli & Gerschman, 1945 and C. schmidti Rudloff, 1996 from Brazil and Acanthoscurria acuminata Schmidt & Tesmoingt in Schmidt, 2005 from Bolivia are transferred to the new genus. The female of Umbyquyra palmarum (Schiapelli & Gerschman, 1945) gen. et comb. nov. and the male of U. schmidti (Rudloff, 1996) gen. et comb. nov. are described for the first time. Cyrtopholis zorodes Mello-Leitão, 1923 is considered a junior synonym of Acanthoscurria gomesiana Mello-Leitão, 1923 and Cyrtopholis meridionalis (Keyserling, 1891) is considered a nomen dubium. Eight new species from Brazil are described: Umbyquyra paranaiba gen. et sp. nov., U. cuiaba gen. et sp. nov., U. araguaia gen. et sp. nov., U. sapezal gen. et sp. nov., U. belterra gen. et sp. nov., U. caxiuana gen. et sp. nov., U. tucurui gen. et sp. nov. and U. tapajos gen. et sp. nov. Data and maps on the geographic distribution are provided.

The casque-headed frog Aparasphenodon brunoi is recorded for the first time in the municipalities of Ilhéus and Igrapiúna, southern region of Bahia state, northeastern Brazil. The new record of A. brunoi in the municipality of Igrapiúna, represents an increase of its known geographic distribution of approximately 150 km north from its nearest locality (airline), in municipality of Una, state of Bahia, representing now the northernmost known record for this species.

The freshwater crab Trichodactylus fluviatilis Latreille, 1828 is recorded here for the first time, at an altitude above 1000 m a.s.l. Sampling was performed in the Grota stream in Campos das Vertentes, Minas Gerais state, Brazil. This new record extends the known altitudinal distribution to 1115 m a.s.l., which significantly contributes to understanding the conditioning limits and factors for this species’ distribution. Moreover, the occurrence of an ectosymbiont platyhelminth of the genus Temnocephala is also reported on the crabs collected.
