The White-nosed Coati, Nasua narica is a small carnivore distributed from the United States to Ecuador, and whose occurrence in Colombia had only been confirmed from the biogeographic Chocó. Although it was previously erroneously considered widespread in the country, a recent revision identified inconsistencies with some supporting records there. Here we present a new distribution record for the species, which confirms previously alleged information about the presence of this procyonid in the Department of Magdalena, also confirming its current occurrence for the Caribbean region, and solving a long-due geographical distribution uncertainty in the country.

Medinilla is a tropical forest plant that has potential as an ornamental and medicinal plant. The diversity of Medinilla in Bali is poorly studied. This study aims to determine the diversity, distribution and conservation activities of Bali’s Medinilla at the Eka Karya Bali Botanical Garden. The research method used are literature study, search for data collection and exploration, amd herbarium observations. Based on this research, it is known that there are six species of Medinilla in Bali such as Medinilla crassifolia (Reinw.ex Blume) Blume, Medinilla alpestris Blume, Medinilla laurifolia (Blume) Blume, Medinilla radicans (Blume) Blume, Medinilla speciosa (Reinw.ex Blume) Blume and Medinilla quadrifolia (BI.) Bakh. F. M. quadrifolia is a new distribution record for Bali. All species were discovered in the districts of Buleleng, Bangli, Gianyar, Jembrana, Karangasem and Tabanan districts. Only four species have been conserved in the Bali Botanical Gardens, according to data from the Eka Karya Bali Botanical Gardens' collection, therefore exploration and collection activities are critical. Conservation activities carried out at Eka Karya Bali Botanical Garden are collecting and data collection, maintaining and propagating species of Medinilla.

Mansonia is a genus of mosquitoes of which several species are confirmed vectors of lymphatic filariasis. Many countries including Indonesia are still struggling to eliminate lymphatic filariasis. Report of the Mansonia mosquito diversity and its distribution is essential to develop the control strategies. Six of eight Mansonia species have been confirmed as lymphatic filariasis vectors in Indonesia. This paper aims to update the distribution of the Mansonia mosquito in Indonesia. Species distribution data were summarized from various literature regarding the Mansonia mosquito. The data is complemented by the results of the National Research on Disease Vector and Reservoir (Rikhus Vektora) results conducted by the National Institute of Health Research and Development (NIHRD) in 2015-2018. There were new distribution records for four species of Mansonia mosquitoes in Indonesia. Mansonia annulata Leicester, Ma. annulifera (Theobald), and Ma. indiana Edwards are now recorded distributed throughout the archipelago. Meanwhile, Ma. bonneae Edwards has a new distribution record in the Moluccas. The illustrated identification key for female Mansonia mosquitoes in Indonesia is provided in this paper.

Reef-building corals are generally confined to tropical waters across the world oceans. But some coral species are able to tolerate even inhospitable environments and suboptimal extremes, and form lower diversity reefs habitats such as the Gulf of Kachchh, located along the northwestern coast of India. Among the reported hard coral species so far from the Gulf of Kachchh, genus Psammocora is represented by only one species, P. digitata. The present study confirmed a new distribution record of Psammocora contigua from Narara Island. Due to the changing hydro-geographic conditions in the Kachchh region, ramose and branching coral species have been believed to be extinct completely, leaving no sign of live colonies. P. contigua, recorded during the present study is the only living species with ramose growth form recorded so far from the Kachchh waters. The present study also holds out hope to record more new coral species records from the region.

This study is focused on the expansion of the distributional range of Lirata batesella (Westwood, 1874) (Hymenoptera, Eucharitidae) and based on a single female specimen deposited at Coleção Entomológica do Laboratório de Sistemática e Bioecologia de Predadores e Parasitoides of the Instituto Biológico, in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo state, Brazil. Santarém, in Pará state, Brazil, the type locality, is the only known distribution record for the species. Here, we provide a new distribution record for L. batesella, in Luiz Antônio, São Paulo state, about 2,200 km south of the type locality, which represents a significant increase in its distribution range. A map showing the geographical distribution of L. batesella based on the new record and literature is provided.

Recently, we reviewed the specimens of the genus Rhopalopsole Klapálek, 1912 we have collected and checked the holotype and paratypes of Rhopalopsole duyuzhoui Sivec & Harper, 2008. We present morphological evidence that R. duyuzhoui is a junior synonym of Rhopalopsole basinigra Yang & Yang, 1995, and that R. basiningra is a new distribution record to Guizhou Province, southwestern China. Additionally, a new species of this genus from Guizhou Province, Rhopalopsole dicondylica Yang & Du, sp. nov. is described and illustrated. The new species is compared to the similar species of this genus.

Abstract The domestic drywood termite, Cryptotermes domesticus (Haviland), has been referred to in past literature as a native species originating in the Southeast Asia region. The species come to prominence due to its destructive damage to a dried wood log by creating passages and nests inside the wood. Its economic importance makes the species one of the monitored species in inter-island transport as part of a biosecurity initiative by the Indonesian Government. In the present study, we collected drywood termites’ specimens from four locations in Riau Province, Sumatra Island, and conducted morphological identification. In the end, we verify the presence of C. domesticus in all four sites studied. This finding establishes the continued presence of the species in Sumatra, one of the areas reported as the native distribution of the species other than Java and Kalimantan following the Holmgren reports in 1913. We believe this report can be an addition to the current status of C. domesticus in Sumatra and also be an addition to the biosecurity initiative list of monitored species regarding the C. domesticus native range in Indonesia.

A southwestern Indian Ocean (SWIO) percoid fish Serranus knysnaensis Gilchrist, 1904, was long synonymised with the comber, Serranus cabrilla (Linnaeus, 1758), from the eastern Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean and Black Sea. However, when the species was brought out of synonymy by Heemstra & Heemstra (2004), reasons for this decision were not given. This study aims to revalidate the present taxonomic status of S. knysnaensis using morphological and molecular assessments. The two species are distinguished by the number of circumpeduncular scales (26–34 in S. knysnaensis versus 34–38 in S. cabrilla) and total gill rakers (18–22 versus 22–24). Serranus knysnaensis is also distinct from S. novemcinctus Kner, 1864, the other SWIO species of Serranus, based on total gill raker counts (18–22 versus 31–35). Genetic analysis of mitochondrial DNA barcode (COI) sequences for 17 Serranus species revealed three closely-related monophyletic clusters corresponding to S. cabrilla, S. novemcinctus and S. knysnaensis that were supported (P <0.001) by species delimitation methods. Even though the genetic distances among the three species were the lowest in the genus (1.60−1.99%), these species may be ecomorphs or lineages that have only recently diverged from each other. These three species also have allopatric distributions and our morphological and molecular data thus confirm that S. knysnaensis is a valid species.

Sự xuất hiện của loài Lysimachia otophora C.Y.Wu được nghi ngờ ở Việt Nam do không có mẫu vật và các tài liệu liên quan. Trong quá trình điều tra thực địa ở Khu bảo tồn thiên nhiên Bát Xát của tỉnh Lào Cai, nhóm nghiên cứu đã phát hiện một loài thuộc chi Lysimachia với đặc điểm gốc cuống lá dạng tai, cụm hoa nách lá, lá bắc hình mác hẹp, tràng vàng và nhị 5 (trong đó 2 nhị ngắn và 3 nhị dài) được tìm thấy. Sau khi so sánh các mẫu vật đã thu thập được và mẫu nghiên cứu của loài L. otophora C.Y. Wu, chúng tôi kết luận rằng chúng rất giống nhau. Loài này được ghi nhận là đặc hữu của Trung Quốc (Vân Nam, Quảng Châu) và lần đầu tiên được báo cáo ở Việt Nam. Trong bài báo này, chúng tôi xác nhận vùng phân bố của loài Lysimachia otophora C.Y. Wu ở Việt nam, cung cấp các tài liệu tham khảo có liên quan. Ngoài ra, chúng tôi còn cung cấp dữ liệu về mô tả, đặc điểm hình thái, sinh thái và sự phân bố của loài được đề cập kèm theo ảnh màu. Vì vậy, tổng số loài thuộc chi này ở Việt Nam là 23 loài và 1 thứ.
