ariousdesignsofsphericalrobotsusingbarycenter offset mechanisms were previously reported. Thiskind of robots offers advantages such as turning in placeor moving in any direction at any time. Yet, the approachesresulting in a balanced robot, which could roll with reducedenergy costs once accelerated, are scarce. We introduce anovel robot of this type. The feasibility of the approachis verified on a cylindrical robot. This paper presents anopen-source, remotely controlled, robotic cylinder. The robotuses a specifically designed mechanism to displace a massin its center, which causes the cylinder to roll forwards orbackwards. The movement characteristics of the cylinder,as well as the mathematical and physical limitations of themechanism were studied. An intuitive user interface allowsthe robot to be controlled through WiFi. This robot wasmanufactured only with readily available and inexpensivematerials, which would make it a suitable platform foreducation, typically in the fields of physics and engineering

This paper describes a simulation framework for sensor-based systems based on Second Life, a popular virtual 3D multi-user online world. With this platform, the components of sensor-based systems can be mapped to, or represented by, virtual devices and objects. The intuitive user interface of Second Life (SL) and its comprehensive visualization capability support evaluation tasks of ubiquitous computing applications. Developers, as avatars, can directly control and manipulate virtual devices. In this way, different settings of sensor-based systems can be tested, and interactively improved. A bidirectional interface between sensor-based systems and Second Life has been implemented to demonstrate Second Life as a testbed for an RFID-based positioning system.

This paper presents an approach for the classification of child chest X-ray images into two classes: pneumonia and normal. We employ Convolutional Neural Networks, from pre-trained networks together with a quantization process, using the platform TensorFlow Lite method. This reduces the processing requirement and computational cost. Results have shown accuracy up to 95.4% and 94.2% for MobileNetV1 and MobileNetV2, respectively. The resulting mobile app also presents a simple and intuitive user interface.

We present a surface based system to manipulate virtual mechanical equipment. Our system can modify or deform the equipment as will. As we model the process of manipulation as a linear system which can be solved very fast by state-of-art numerical solver, our system is very efficient. We also provide an intuitive user interface for our system.
