Abstract M-theory on local G2-manifolds engineers 4d minimally supersymmetric gauge theories. We consider ALE-fibered G2-manifolds and study the 4d physics from the view point of a partially twisted 7d supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory and its Higgs bundle. Euclidean M2-brane instantons descend to non-perturbative effects of the 7d supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory, which are found to be in one to one correspondence with the instantons of a colored supersymmetric quantum mechanics. We compute the contributions of M2-brane instantons to the 4d superpotential in the effective 7d description via localization in the colored quantum mechanics. Further we consider non-split Higgs bundles and analyze their 4d spectrum.

A new ten-dimensional superparticle action with local symmetries implemented via gauge fields is formulated in a superspace with an extra anticommuting space-time spinor coordinate. Light-cone quantization gives the spectrum of N=1 super-Yang-Mills. Covariant gauge choices in which the gauge fields are set to constants lead to free BRST-invariant quantum actions. Possible ghost systems include one with only a finite number of ghosts and several with an infinite number. In each case, the BRST cohomology class of zero ghost number gives the spectrum of N=1 super-Yang-Mills.

We study the supersymmetric quantum mechanics of an isospin particle in the background of spherically symmetric Yang–Mills gauge field. We show that on S2 the number of supersymmetries can be made arbitrarily large for a specific choice of the spherically symmetric SU (2) gauge field. However, the symmetry algebra containing the supercharges becomes nonlinear if the number of fermions is greater than two. We present the exact energy spectra and eigenfunctions, which can be written as the product of monopole harmonics and a certain isospin state. We also find that the supersymmetry is spontaneously broken if the number of supersymmetries is even.
