The reaction of warm EtOH solutions of FeX3.nH2O (X=Cl, NO3) with tridentate ONX (X=O, S, N) pyridoxal semi-, thiosemi- and S-methylisothiosemicabazones (H2L1, H2L2, H2L3, respectively) yielded high-spin octahedral mono- and bis(ligand) complexes of the formula [Fe(H2L1-3)Cl2(H2O)]Cl,[Fe(HL1,2)2]Cl.nH2O and [Fe(H2L3)(HL3)]NO3)2.H2O. The compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, conductometric and magnetochemical measurements, IR and UV-Vis spectra. Besides, a detailed voltammetric study of the complexes was carried out in DMF solution in the presence of several supporting electrolytes, to characterize the nature of the electrode processes and solution equilibria.

The synthesis and structural characterization of a square-planar copper(II) complex with pyridoxal S-methylisothiosemicarbazone (PLITSC) of the formula [Cu(PLITSC?H)H2O]Br?H2O (1) as the first Cu(II) complex with monoanionic form of this ligand were described. Complex 1 together with two previously synthesized complexes [Cu(PLITSC)Br2] (2) and [Cu(PLITSC)Br(MeOH)]Br (3) were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and electronic spectra and also by the methods of thermal analysis, conductometry and magnetochemistry.

The first two complexes of dioxovanadium(V) with salicylaldehyde thiosemicarbazone (SALTSC), of the coordination formulas [VO2(SALTSC-H)]?H2O (1) and NH4[VO2(SALTSC-2H] (2), were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, conductometric measurements, IR and UV-vis spectroscopy and X-ray analysis. The complexes were obtained in the reaction of an aqueous ammoniacal solution of NH4VO3 and SALTSC. The results of the characterization showed that SALTSC was coordinated in the usual ONS tridentate mode as monoanion in complex 1 and dianion in complex 2. In both complexes, the vanadium atom is in a deformed square-pyramidal environment and is slightly shifted towards the apical oxo-ligand (? 0.52 ?).

Three new bis(ligand) iron(III) complexes were prepared with the deprotonated ONX ligands (X = O,S,N), pyridoxal semi-, thiosemi- and S-methylisothiosemicarbazones (H2L1, H2L2 and H2L3, respectively) of the formulas [Fe(HL1,2)L1,2].4H2O and [Fe(HL3)2]OAc.2H2O. The compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, conductometric and magnetochemical measurements, as well as by IR and UV-vis spectra. Detailed voltammetric investigations were carried out in DMF solutions in the presence of several supporting electrolytes to study the nature of the electrochemical processes and solution equilibria.

This work is concerned with the synthesis of neutral dioxovanadium(V) and dioxomolybdenum(VI) complexes with tridentate ONN pyridoxal S-methylisothiosemicarbazone (PLITSC) of the respective formulas [VO2(PLITSC-H)]?2H2O and [MoO2(PLITSC-2H)]. Structural X-ray analysis of the vanadium complex showed that it has an almost ideal square-pyramidal structure, while the molybdenum complex is supposed to have a polymeric octahedral structure. In addition to elemental analysis, both complexes were characterized by conductometric and magnetometric measurements, as well as by IR, UV-vis, 1H- and 13CNMR spectra.
