There has been a number of researches carried out on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) impact to home networking. Many researchers have stated that the HCI elements are the most important aspects to be considered in making user understand some of issues concerning the Home Network. This paper reviews the existing research related to Human-Computer Interaction, Home Network and Network Management. This paper seeks to identify the effectiveness of existing Network Management Tools and the importance of HCI in dealing with it. In addition, this paper looks into the potential future work that could be done in order to archive desirable goals of Home Network.

The use of information management tools in open and unbounded operational environments demands an efficient and robust communication infrastructure in order to allow the appropriate transmission of large amount of information and the collaboration among several humans located in geographically distant places, in different organizations, and usually involving several network administrative domains. In order to provide such efficient communication infrastructure, mechanisms for data network management must be used. However, traditional network management models do not provide the required support to the management of such networks. In this context, an alternative distributed network management model must be employed to the efficient management of the communication infrastructure required to support these information management tools. This chapter presents the use of peer-to-peer (P2P) technologies as support for the management of such networks. It presents a P2P-based distributed network management model and a network management environment that follows this model. The functionalities required for the environment are discussed, including its features, potentialities, and drawbacks.

One of the main necessities in IP networks is the lack of tools to test the performance of the network when it is already implemented. Network management tools are generally used when it is required to test what happens in the network after a failure and when the administrators need to measure the amount of time it takes to recover from unexpected events. But, this solution does not allow testing the traffic that is being distributed inside of the network or to measure the exact time the network takes to recover from a failure. In this paper, we present a new tool to carry out network performance tests when it is already implemented. The displayed parameters are jitter, delay, received messages, lost messages, % of lost messages, and bandwidth. In order to test its effectiveness, we conduct a series of measurements on a real network.

The intensive introduction of virtualization technologies, the transition to software-oriented methods and the active use of universal tools make it possible to provide comprehensive automation of the processes of managing the communication infrastructures of a modern enterprise. The use of modern methods for creating network resources and network management tools makes it possible to find solutions for many problems that arise during the construction or modernization of distributed information systems. This paper presents an example of the implementation of the concept of "Infrastructure as Code", the use of a set of virtualization platforms and network management tools in the construction of a distributed laboratory complex of an educational institution. The paper shows how the use of modern methods and tools provides comprehensive automation of the management of network resources of a distributed laboratory complex, which makes it possible to combine disparate laboratory resources of an educational institution into a single software-controlled complex, intensify the learning process and instill in students practical skills in building modern data transmission systems.
