In today’s world, face recognition is the type of biometric that is used in almost every field. This technology is used for security purposes and can be used in many verification and security system. Though it is less efficient than eyes recognition and fingerprint recognition, is still in market due to its untouchability and non-intrusive method. Besides, face recognition should also be utilized for attendance checking in schools, colleges, offices, etc. Face Recognition method pivot to build up a class attendance system which uses the idea of face recognition as present hand done attendance process is lethargic and not suitable to keep. And there are chances of too much proxy attendance. Thus, the want for this method is much needed. This method involves 4 stages- database introduction, face detection, face recognition, attendance updation. The database is made by taking the snap shots of the students in elegance. Face detection and popularity is done using python opencv. Attendance is to be exported at the end of semester.

In this paper, researchers had provided definite solutions in order to check and validate student attendance with the use of computerized seat plans along with the information and image of each student. This study also discussed the inclusion of Optimization Query Algorithm in order to identify and monitor student’s punctuality as well as the analysis of the reasons why they fail to attend their class. Attendance patterns are formed early in life because it validates one of the components of student’s academic and scholastic performance. Regular attendance is vital part of the grading component necessary to attain some portion of the student’s academic progress. You are missing out on active learning experiences and class attendance. As a result, they are more likely to to fail which tends to affect their academic performances.

The main aim of this project is to create a smart attendance monitoring system which will use the concept of face recognition to identify students. On the basis of this a database will be created containing the information of attendance date wise. Apart from reducing time it will also help in replacing the laborious conventional method of using logbooks. The system also has the feature to send emails to the administrator about the student ‘s attendance status at the time of recognition itself. At the time of closing of the camera absentees’ names will be called out.
