Node failure is an important factor causing network faults. Through research on node failures, mastering the effect laws of failure is a reasonable and effective method to improve network reliability. This paper summarized and classified the node failure modes of communication network. Meanwhile, combined with the classic BA network model in complex network theory, the effect laws of nodes function failure and performance failure on network reliability were investigated with the design of simulations using MATLAB and OPNET. The results have great guidance value for the simulation of network reliability and network reliability design under limited operation cost.

In order to realize impact analysis for power communication service, we introduce service-concerned resource models, on which we based to present a new method for service impact analysis as well as a classification for service impact type and impact degree, combining the intersection theory with fault tree method. As applications, we managed to implement this model and method for N-1 service impact analysis in case of fault alarm, cracking performance and maintenance. As an extension, we introduce a brief model for N-x analysis. These implements will improve the intelligent level of power telecommunication service impact analysis.

A novel method was proposed to evaluate the reliability of power communication network based on self-organizing map via analyzing the problems of current power communication network reliability evaluation. This proposed method overcomes not only the influence of subjective factors on the evaluation, but also the problem of weight. Excellent results were obtained by applying the new model to evaluating the ten communication networks. Therefore, it is proven to be objective, reasonable and effective in practice.
