The massive growth of the ceramic industry and the consequent demand for construction materials worldwide has motivated the search for alternative solutions aimed at reducing the use of mineral / natural resources as the main source of raw materials. One of the strategies frequently adopted by the scientific community is the reuse of industrial waste. It is beneficial not only to reduce the overexploitation of mineral resources but also to reduce the environmental, economic and social impacts resulting from their incorrect disposal/treatment and consequent deposition on land unsuitable or that purpose. Duetoconsiderationssuchasphysico-mechanical characteristics and the high production rate, two different types of industrial waste were selected for this work, ashes resulting from the burning of coal in thermoelectric power plant, commonly known as bottom ash (B), and the Marble Powder (MP). It was intended to test the technological feasibility of the manufacture of ceramic materials produced from clay mixtures containing these two residues. For this purpose, the fine fraction(<63μm)obtained from the sieving of the marbleresidue(MR)and slag(Bf)was used,aswellasacoarsergrainslagfractionrangingfrom63-125μm(Bg). The resulting test samples were subjected to a firing of 950 °C under an oxidizing atmosphere, following a primary drying process. Faced with the standard values, the new ceramic materials obtained from MP have seen their mechanical and porous characteristics decrease and increase, respectively. Atthesametime,althoughtheadditionofBinno way influenced the mechanical characteristics,a significant improvement the porous characteristic was observed. Mineral resources provide a high standard of living for modern societies: satisfying electricity demand as well as demand for construction materials and they sustain the basis for industry and technological development. Now, modern societies are facing the challenge ofreversing the trend of the depletion of non-renewable mineral resources and sustainable development is intended to ensure the survivalof human civilization in the face of dwindling non-renewable raw materials (especially energy resources) and also increasing anthropopression and related environmental pollution. The amount of non-renewable mineral resources of the Earth's crust is limited. Underspecific conditions there is a possibility of their regeneration however over a period of several if not more than a dozen generations. Thearticle raises questions how societies can prevent mineral resources crises in future and whether this task is feasible.The article identifies the main aspects of the sustainable development in mining sector in Poland as well as environmental challengesrelated to the new CSR mechanism which are: the creation and implementation of sustainable and responsible business model whichthanks to reformed financial and economic system, will make creating a better future easier, more natural and more cost-effective.The crucial aspects of sustainable development as economic and social conditions, environmental challenges, safety of agglomerationlocated in the area of exploitation of resources or in its neighborhood were also presented in the article. The author highlighted thelegal conditions for the management of deposits and extracted mineral resources as well as work safety and research and developmentactivities in the sector.


The aim of the study. Using the latest data of Geoinform of Ukraine, to carry out economic and geographical zoning of the territory of Podillya by mineral resources in order to identify spatial and temporal and dynamic patterns of concentration of mineral deposits, their place and role in the economic complex of the region, substantiation of proposals for optimization of its structure and optimization. Research results. Within the Podilskyi macrodistrict, six mineral-raw areas were distinguished: Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Tovtry, Chortkiv, Western and Podnistrovskyі. All districts (except Chortkiv and Podnistrovskyi) are of a complex type, that is, mineral resources are concentrated within their limits in the form of macrobunches, deposits, separate deposits. In particular, it is established that the main components of the component structure of mineral resources of Podillya are different types of construction materials. Agrochemical and technological raw materials are of subordinate importance. The isolated mineral resources are characterized by a well-defined set of major and specific (area-specific) mineral resources and a distinct genetic link between the latter and the individual stratigraphic and structural-geomorphological taxones of the territory. Most territorial structures of the region's mineral resources are complex and only a few are classified as grouped. Within the region, multicomponent concentrations of mineral deposits and deposits dominate, in which raw materials for the construction industry most often play a dominant role.On the basis of the explored deposits of solid mineral resources of the region, several mineral-oriented mining hubs were formed and are functioning: Shepetivka-Polonne, Glukhiv-Turbiv, Slavuta and Kamianets-Podilskyi - Chemerivtsi. The fields of medicinal and medical-table waters of Podillya are basic for the formation in the region of territorial and recreational complexes: Konopkiv, Sataniv-Makiv and Khmilnyk. Scientific novelty. Own interpretation of such territorial structural unit of mineral resources as an area is given, regionalization of Podillya territory by combinations of mineral resources is carried out for the first time, the set of basic and specific (peculiar to this area only) types of mineral raw materials and a distinct genetic link of the latter with separate stratigraphs are established - geomorphological taxons of the territory, which are separately formed on the basis of combinations of mineral resources, mining sites and their specificasy was outlined. Practical importance. Economic and geographical zoning of the Podillya area by mineral resources is conducted which will help to form a reliable, holistic view of the actual resource potential of the region and to plan and conduct on this basis by local administrative bodies aimed at optimizing the structure of the present mineral resources and raw materials.

The development of regional economy is based on medium and long-term strategies (programs) for economic industrialization. These documents are of a sectoral or integrated nature. Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and Kamchatka Territory have a scientifically substantiated strategy for the development of the mining industry. Despite its absence in Khabarovsk Territory, subsoil use in recent years has shown a steady growth in mining. The main volume of income comes from gold mining mainly in the northern and central parts of the region. Over the past 10 years, the most economically advantageous and geographically accessible minerals have been identified in the region. These include: coal, gold, platinum, tin, construction materials, groundwater. In the future, it is necessary to plan the development of copper-porphyry, alunite and polymetallic fields. The issues of increasing the resource base of liquid and strategic metals, formation of infrastructure, complexity of the use of mineral wealth and rational use of mineral resources remain problematic. A positive solution to problems is possible when developing and implementing an industry strategy. The basis for its formation is the geological and economic assessment of particular territories of the region.
