Vol 30 (6) ◽

Abstract ANACONDA Alloy 280 is nominally a 60% copper-40% zinc alloy with good strength but low ductility. It has excellent hot-working characteristics but its capacity for being cold-worked is only fair. Alloy 280 has a pleasing, reddish-yellow color much like that of extruded architectural bronze. Among its many uses are architectural applications, trim, hot forgings, condenser plates and heat exchanger tubes. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Cu-418. Producer or source: Anaconda American Brass Company.
