Abstract LESCO M-4 PM high-speed tool steel is a special purpose grade of the molybdenum-tungsten family. Abrasion and wear resistance are enhanced by the increased carbon and vanadium content. It is produced by the powder metallurgy process with resultant better grindability, toughness and improved microstructure as compared with conventional wrought M-4 steel. Sulfide additives enhance machinability. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, microstructure, hardness, and elasticity. It also includes information on heat treating and machining. Filing Code: TS-500. Producer or source: Latrobe Steel Company.

Abstract SELECT B is a fully uniform air-hardening die steel having abrasion resistance intermediate between Olympic (AISI Type D2) high-carbon, high-chromium die steel and Badger (AISI Type O1) oil-hardening die steel. SELECT B has excellent non-deforming, deep-hardening characteristics and good toughness. Its machinability is comparable to most oil-hardening tool steels. Among its many uses are cold blanking and forming dies, rolls, punches, gages and broaches. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, and machining. Filing Code: TS-448. Producer or source: Latrobe Steel Company.

Abstract Crucible CPM Rex 54 HS is a cobalt-bearing high speed tool steel that is produced by the proprietary Crucible Particle Metallurgy (CPM) process. It combines the wear properties of the popular high vanadium M4 grade with the red hardness of the cobalt-bearing M35/Crucible CPM Rex 45 HS grades. Crucible CPM Rex 54 HS may be used as an upgrade for improved red hardness over M3 or M4 without giving up the abrasion resistance, or as an upgrade for improved wear resistance over M35 or Crucible CPM Rex 45 HS without giving up the red hardness. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, microstructure, hardness, and elasticity. It also includes information on wear resistance as well as heat treating and surface treatment. Filing Code: TS-818. Producer or source: Crucible Industries LLC.

Abstract VANITE is a high-carbon, high-vanadium modification of the 18W-4Cr-IV (AISI Type T1) high-speed tool steel. Its increased alloy content provides increases in cutting efficiency and wear resistance. Vanite is especially suitable for light cuts at high speeds that produce a fine surface finish. It will hold a keen cutting edge and because of this it is used primarily for broaches, reamers and finishing tools. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, and hardness. It also includes information on heat treating and machining. Filing Code: TS-458. Producer or source: Columbia Tool Steel Company.
