Abstract ZA-8 is a zinc-base foundry alloy capable of being sand, permanent mold gravity or die cast (hot-chamber machine). ZA-8 should be the first choice when considering die casting the ZA family (3 alloys) due to its cost effective hot-chamber castability. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and compressive and shear strength as well as fracture toughness, creep, and fatigue. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: Zn-35. Producer or source: Noranda Sales Corporation. Originally published November 1980, revised October 1991. See also Zn-48, January 1990.

Abstract ASARCO Z.D.C. No. 7 is a zinc die casting alloy which will be found particularly helpful in casting relatively large, complicated shapes and intricate parts which are not free to shrink in the dies because of cores, slides, etc. and require a hardware finish for subsequent plating or organic finishes. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, tensile properties, and compressive and shear strength as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Zn-10. Producer or source: Federated Metals Corporation, ASARCO Inc..

Abstract KIDD Alloy ZA-12 is the general-purpose, zinc-aluminum-copper foundry alloy. It can be sand, permanent-mold or die cast. Alloy ZA-12 has a modest cost and a tensile strength suitable for many applications where bronze and cast or malleable iron were traditionally used. Alloy ZA-12 is extremely resistant to galling, has natural lubricity and is thus well suited to lubricated bearing and bushing applications. It is particularly well suited to liquid and gas-pressure applications. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and shear strength as well as fracture toughness and fatigue. It also includes information on casting, forming, heat treating, machining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: Zn-38. Producer or source: Kidd Creek Mines Ltd.
