The taxonomic study of green algae (Desmids) of district Siddharth Nagar, Uttar Pradesh India reveals the presence of ten taxa belonging to family Desmidiaceae the Class Chlorophyceae. The Tal Kunda pond of Siddharth Nagar district showing rich algal diversity. The present paper deals only desmidiacean taxa. These desmids taxa (Euastrum ceylanicum E. spinulosum, Cosmarium quadrum, C. awadhense, Staurastrum gracile, S. sexangulare, Micrasterias zeylanica, M. foliacea, Pleurotaenium ehrenbergii and Desmidium swartzii) though known from other localities of lndia are recorded from district Siddharth Nagar Eastern Uttar  Pradesh for the first time.  Key words: Chlorophyceae; Fresh; water; Desmids doi: 10.3126/eco.v12i0.3193 Ecoprint: An International Journal of Ecology 12: 21-25, 2005

Twenty two species of algae were collected from rice field of Parsa district, Nepal and identified and recorded. Three Chlorophyceae, ten heterocystous cyanophceae and nine non-heterocystous cyanophyceae. Oscillatoria was most common in all the three selected rice field. Other species like Nostoc linkia, Anabaena oryzae and Merismopedia elegans have been also found as dominant taxa. Six cyanophyta and two chlorophyta are newly reported for Nepal.

The present study summarized the freshwater algal diversity from Mt. Sinbul alpine wetlands in South Korea from March 2013 to December 2019. We identified a total of 183 taxa belong to seven main algal groups (Charophyta, Chlorophyta, Cyanophyta, Chrysophyta, Cryptophyta, Dinophyta and Euglenophyta). The algal communities were characterized by high species numbers of the desmids making up 108 taxa. It was examined that the number of species was higher during late spring and summer. Among them, a total of 53 taxa of 40 desmid species (Charophyta) including 4 new taxa (Actinotaenium crassiusculum var. minutum var. nov., Cosmarium vitiosum var. koreanum var. nov., Groenbladia neglecta var. longa var. nov., Staurodesmus koreanus sp. nov.), 5 species of Chlorophyta, 7 species of Chrysophyta and 1 species of Cyanophyta have been recorded for the first time in Korea.
