Purpose – This paper aims to study the controlled release and synergistic effect of water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) on phosphate corrosion inhibitor at the interface of thermal insulation cotton/carbon steel. Design/methodology/approach – This study was carried out using a coating method, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy and AC impedance. Findings – The single-phase phosphate particles were coated/adsorbed on the PVA film, which was formed on the fiber surface of corrosion inhibitor/PVA-impregnated rock wool sample. On the surface of Q235 steel, an effective protective film was formed by the corrosion inhibitor with partially dissolved PVA that can significantly increase the polarization resistance of corrosion reaction, and reduce the capacitive reactance of electric double layer. The rock wool impregnated with the phosphate corrosion inhibitor and 1.5 per cent PVA showed obvious controlled release and inhibition synergism. Originality/value – The rock wool impregnated with the phosphate corrosion inhibitor and 1.5 per cent PVA showed the following advantages: the adsorption and release quantities of the corrosion inhibitor increased by 3.3 and 2.9 times, respectively; the release-adsorption equilibrium time increased from 2 to 6 h; and the corrosion inhibition efficiency increased from 61.55 per cent to 94.6 per cent.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper was to protect carbon steel from corrosion with self–aggregated, eco-friendly, water-soluble hyperbranched polyamide-ester (Hb-PAE). Design/methodology/approach – Hb-PAE was synthesized through bulk polycondensation reaction between maleic anhydride and di-isopropanol amine. Complete structural analysis for the obtained polymer was performed using Fourier Transfer Infra-Red Spectroscopy, 1H NMR, Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry, and the molar mass was measured using gel permeation chromatography/refractive index. For this study, the surface activity of Hb-PAE with hydroxyl end groups was investigated. Surface tension of 1.0 × 10−6 to 0.1M of both Hb-PAE/H2O and Hb-PAE/1N HCl systems was measured, and the critical aggregation concentration (CAC) in both systems was determined. Hb-PAE was examined as a corrosion inhibitor for plain carbon steel in both neutral (distilled water) and acidic (1N HCl) media. The corrosion of the steel was studied quantitatively by measuring its weight loss in both media in the absence and presence of Hb-PAE. The surface morphology of the exposed steel test samples was examined using scanning electron microscopy. Findings – It was found that Hb-PAE inhibited corrosion of steel around the CAC, and its corrosion inhibition efficiency was increased by increasing its concentration. Originality/value – The research can provide a reference for the relationship between the aggregation concentration of the prepared Hb-PAE with its corrosion inhibition efficiency on plain carbon steel. Hb-PAE as a corrosion inhibitor is environmentally acceptable, economical and readily available.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the process of performance evaluation of vendors especially in the vendor that provides a raw material for pressure vessel plate made of carbon steel. As for the evaluation process undertaken by PT. XYZ through performance indicators (KPI) where an evaluation that applied a focus on quality and delivery. In this study, researchers used the designation criteria vendor performance indicator (VPI) where the criteria used consist of quality, cost, delivery, flexibility and responsiveness (QCDFR). The methods used in the analysis process that is Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Data collecting directionally by questionnaire method among 3 respondents on the procurement department that know the performance of the vendors over the years. The result showed that PT. RE has the best performance among the four vendors, as known PT.SS, PT. ST, PT. CH and PT. UN within value 0.540; The vendor with lowest performance owned by PT.CH within value 0.034.Keyword : Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), vendor performance indicator (vpi), plate pressure vessel, vendor performance evaluation Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis proses evaluasi kinerja vendor khususnya pada vendor yang mensupplai bahan baku plate pressure vessel berbahan carbon steel. Adapun proses evaluasi yang dilakukan oleh PT. XYZ melalui key performance indicator (KPI) dimana evaluasi yang diterapkan hanya berfokus pada quality dan delivery. Dalam studi ini, peneliti menggunakan penetapan kriteria Vendor Performance Indicator (VPI) dimana kriteria yang digunakan yaitu quality, cost, delivery, flexibility dan responsiveness (QCDFR). Metode yang digunakan dalam proses analisis yaitu Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Pengambilan data menggunakan kuisioner terhadap 3 informan pada departemen procurement yang dianggap mengetahui kinerja vendor selama ini. Adapun hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa PT. RE memiliki kinerja yang terbaik diantara keempat vendor yaitu PT. SS, PT. ST, PT. CH serta PT. UN dengan nilai bobot sebesar 0.540 sedangkan vendor dengan kinerja terendah dimiliki oleh PT. CH dengan nilai bobot sebesar 0.034.Kata kunci : Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), vendor performance indicator (VPI), plate pressure vessel, evaluasi kinerja vendor.
