Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui besarnya nilai indeks kekuatan system (IKS) system kelistrikan Sulawesi Bagian Selatan. Untuk mencapai tujuan dari penelitian ini, simulasi sistem kelistrikan pada saat terjadi gangguan di PLTA Poso dengan menggunakan DigSilent. Simulasi dilakukan pada saat terjadi gangguan dalam dua waktu yang berbeda yaitu pada Waktu Beban Puncak (WBP) dan Luar Waktu Beban Puncak (LWBP) dengan tiga skenario gangguan yakni pada saat trip 1 unit, trip 2 unit dan trip 3 unit. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa besarnya nilai IKS dalam WBP sebesar 55,05 MW/Hz dan LWBP yaitu 47,19 MW/Hz.   The aim of this research to find out a value of electrical power system indeks (IKS) in South Sulawesi. To achieved this aim, simulation of the electrical system if an outage was occured in PLTA Pos under DgiSilent program. In this simulation, peak and off-peak season was chosen for the case study with three kinds of scenarious, such as: when 1 power plant was off, 2 power plant was off and 3 power plant was off, continuously. The result of research illustrated that a value of IKS for peak and off peka season were 55,05 MW/Hz and 47,19 MW/Hz.

After the Fukushima nuclear accident, the reliability requirements for Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) safety systems have been further improved worldwide. Therefore, it is necessary to provide a safe, reliable and economical scheme of the power supply system to cope with the abnormal conditions. Based on the reliability of the power supply of the 3rd generations of NPPs and combined with the application of the defend in depth concept in the electrical system, this paper provides a brief introduction of the typical 3rd generation NPP electrical system in the following area: the configuration of the electrical power system, defence in depth principle of the power supply, the basic structure of electrical power system. On this basis, an optimal power supply scheme is proposed.

The main objective of this chapter is to present a hybrid model for bus load forecasting. This approach represents an essential tool for the operation of the electrical power system and the hybrid model combines a bus clustering process and a load forecasting model. As a case study, the model was applied to the real Brazilian electrical system, and the results revealed a performance similar to that of conventional models for bus load forecasting, but about 14 times faster. The results are compatible with the safe operating load levels for the Brazilian electrical power system and have proved to be adequate for use in real operation tasks.

Electrical Power System protection is required to protectboth the user and the system equipment itself fromany fault, hence electrical power system is not allowed to operate without any protection devices installed. Power System fault is defined as the undesirable condition that occurs in the power system. Some of these undesirable conditions are short circuit, current leakage, ground faultand over-under voltage. With the increasing loads, voltages and short-circuit duty in power plant, over voltage protection has become more important today. Here, the component that had been used is PIC 16F877a microcontroller to control the whole system and especially on the circuit breakers as well as the LCT display unit is used to display the voltage level and type of generator that used to serve the load. Sensors are used to measure both thevoltage and the load. The controlled digital signal from PIC microcontroller is converted by using the digital analog converter to control the whole circuit. Thus a device called protective relay is created to meet this requirement. The protective relay is mostlyoften coupled with circuit breaker in a way that it can isolate the abnormal condition in the system.

The amount and the power of the electrical appliances on cars are increasing, and the fuel consumption produced by the electrical system is getting larger. To design an automotive electrical power system with higher efficiency is a very practical requirement. In this paper, we proposed an automotive intelligent alternator control system. In this system, we divided the battery states to different partitions by state of charge, and designed an intelligent alternator control system to work in different mode according to the battery partition and the vehicle state. With this system we can realize the braking energy regeneration for traditional cars and reduced the fuel consumption. We carried out the experiment with a car, and the results indicated that with this system, the fuel consumption can be reduced by about 2-3%.

Characteristics of Power quality has been with us since the inception of the electrical Power system. However, the topic of power quality has attracted particular attention in recent years due to the increase of electronically controlled. Power quality problems caused disruptions to electrical or electronic equipment and the resulting consequences are very expensive. Ripple techniques will be studied in this paper for analysing power quality monitoring. In the case study based on the measurement of the site of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and it was examined using the proposed ripple technique.
