<p>Electric fault is the main challenge in the process of providing continues electric supply. Fault can occur at anytime and anywhere. Due to the fault causes are mainly based on natural disaster or accident. Most fault occurrence hardly predicted nor avoided. Therefore, a quick response fault detection is necessary to ensure that the fault area is maintained to ensure a continuous power supply system. Hence, a system is required to detect and locate the position of the fault in the power system especially in the transmission line and distribution line. This paper will review the type of fault that possibly occurs in an electric power system, the type of fault detection and location technique that are available together with the protection device that can be utilized in the power system to protect the equipment from electric fault.</p><p> </p>

The main objective of this chapter is to present a hybrid model for bus load forecasting. This approach represents an essential tool for the operation of the electrical power system and the hybrid model combines a bus clustering process and a load forecasting model. As a case study, the model was applied to the real Brazilian electrical system, and the results revealed a performance similar to that of conventional models for bus load forecasting, but about 14 times faster. The results are compatible with the safe operating load levels for the Brazilian electrical power system and have proved to be adequate for use in real operation tasks.

Proposed one kind of improvement artificial immunization algorithm calculates the electrical power system most superior tidal current, this algorithm maintained the basic immunity algorithm comprehensive search ability, also the concept which is apart from through the introduction vector causes the immunity algorithm theoretically to guarantee the understanding the multiplicity. Through the IEEE-30pitch point system computed result indicated this algorithm is feasible. And so on compares with the heredity algorithm, this algorithm overall situation search ability strong, the convergence rate is quick.
