The higher-order convective Cahn-Hilliard equation describes the evolution of crystal surfaces faceting through surface electromigration, the growing surface faceting, and the evolution of dynamics of phase transitions in ternary oil-water-surfactant systems. In this paper, we study the H3 solutions of the Cauchy problem and prove, under different assumptions on the constants appearing in the equation and on the mean of the initial datum, that they are well-posed.

AbstractThe Kuramoto–Sinelshchikov–Cahn–Hilliard equation models the spinodal decomposition of phase separating systems in an external field, the spatiotemporal evolution of the morphology of steps on crystal surfaces and the growth of thermodynamically unstable crystal surfaces with strongly anisotropic surface tension. In this paper, we prove the well-posedness of the Cauchy problem, associated with this equation.

AbstractThe Kuramto–Sivashinsky equation with anisotropy effects models the spinodal decomposition of phase separating systems in an external field, the spatiotemporal evolution of the morphology of steps on crystal surfaces and the growth of thermodynamically unstable crystal surfaces with strongly anisotropic surface tension. Written in terms of the step slope, it can be represented in a form similar to a convective Cahn–Hilliard equation. In this paper, we prove the well-posedness of the classical solutions for the Cauchy problem, associated with this equation.

AbstractWe rigorously prove the convergence of weak solutions to a model for lipid raft formation in cell membranes which was recently proposed in [H. Garcke, J. Kampmann, A. Rätz and M. Röger, A coupled surface-Cahn–Hilliard bulk-diffusion system modeling lipid raft formation in cell membranes, Math. Models Methods Appl. Sci. 26 2016, 6, 1149–1189] to weak (varifold) solutions of the corresponding sharp-interface problem for a suitable subsequence. In the system a Cahn–Hilliard type equation on the boundary of a domain is coupled to a diffusion equation inside the domain. The proof builds on techniques developed in [X. Chen, Global asymptotic limit of solutions of the Cahn–Hilliard equation, J. Differential Geom. 44 1996, 2, 262–311] for the corresponding result for the Cahn–Hilliard equation.

AbstractThis paper is devoted to study the global well-posedness of solutions for the Cauchy problem of the fractional Cahn–Hilliard equation in{\mathbb{R}^{N}}({N\in\mathbb{N}^{+}}), provided that the initial datum is sufficiently small. In addition, the{L^{p}}-norm ({1\leq p\leq\infty}) temporal decay rate for weak solutions and the higher-order derivative of solutions are also studied.

High order convective Cahn-Hilliard type equations describe the faceting of a growing surface, or the dynamics of phase transitions in ternary oil-water-surfactant systems. In this paper, we prove the well-posedness of the classical solutions for the Cauchy problem, associated with this equation.

In this paper, we investigate the Cauchy problem for Cahn–Hilliard equation with inertial term in n-dimensional space. Based on the decay estimate of solutions to the corresponding linear equation, we define a solution space. Under small condition on the initial value, we prove the global existence and asymptotic behavior of the solution in the corresponding Sobolev spaces by the contraction mapping principle.

In this paper we construct new classes of stationary solutions for the Cahn–Hilliard equation by a novel approach. One of the results is as follows. Given a positive integer K and a (not necessarily non-degenerate) local minimum point of the mean curvature of the boundary, then there are boundary K-spike solutions whose peaks all approach this point. This implies that for any smooth and bounded domain there exist boundary K-spike solutions. The central ingredient of our analysis is the novel derivation and exploitation of a reduction of the energy to finite dimensions (lemma 3.5), where the variables are closely related to the peak locations.
