Capparis kbangensis Sy & D.V. Hai, a new species from Kbang District, Gia Lai Province, Vietnam, is described and illustrated. The new species is morphologically similar to Capparis versicolor but differs by several characters such as emarginate leaf apex, hairy margin of sepals, smaller fruits, and fewer seeds per fruit. Its ecology and conservation status are provided along with a taxonomic key to the closely allied species.

A new species of Medinilla, M. malabrigoi, from forests over limestone in Samar Island, Philippines is described and illustrated. It differs from the species of the M. polillensis alliance, herein defined, which includes M. polillensis s.l. and M. peltata, in its erect shrubby habit; sessile, narrowly lanceolate, 3-plinerved leaf with cordate to subcordate base; umbellate inflorescence; and flared, reflexed calyx at anthesis. Morphological and distributional comparisons with the most similar congeners are provided, as well as information on habitat and conservation status. Likewise, a taxonomic key to the Medinilla of Samar Island is herein devised.

Phyllagathis phamhoangii V.T.Pham, T.C.Vu & Ranil is described and illustrated from Quang Nam province, central Vietnam. Diagnostic features of the new species are the short acaulescent rhizomatous herbs with pink flowers. The described species is distinct from the closely allied P. nanakorniana in the sparse hairs on all its parts except petals and stamens, much longer petioles, dichasial inflorescences, longer hypanthia, stamens unequal in length, longer petals and ovary; and from P. subrotunda by the taller plants, smaller leaves with longer petioles, cordate to reniform blades with a shortly acuminate apex, dichasial inflorescences, longer and cylindrical peduncles, longer and narrower hypanthia. We suggest the IUCN conservation status for P. phamhoangii as Vulnerable.

Aspidistra magnifica, a new species from Mount Cà Đam, Quảng Ngãi Province, Central Vietnam, is described and illustrated. It is similar to A. maguanensis in having purple-black flowers, twelve perigone lobes and stamens, and a table-shaped pistil, but differs by its somewhat elliptic leaf blades, short flowering peduncles, much large broadly campanulate to bowl shaped perigone tube, longer outcurved perigone lobes and larger rounded stigma. A morphological description, two colour plates, the distribution, ecological information, the conservation status, and a comparison table of similar species are given.

Discospermum philippinensis, a new endemic species from the Philippines, is here described and illustrated. The species is similar to D. whitfordii because of a persistent calyx and a prominent disk below the fruit apex, from which it can be distinguished by leaf blades 5.5–15.5 × 3.5–6.5 cm, acute to attenuate leaf apex (vs. 4.5–10.0 × 2.0–4.5, caudate in D. whitfordii), fruits faintly ribbed, smaller with thin mesocarp (vs. non-ribbed, with a thick mesocarp), and 4–6 seeds per locule (vs. 5–12).

Aristolochia annamensis, a new species from central Vietnam, is described and illustrated. This new species, belonging to Aristolochia subgenus Siphisia, is characterized by a truncate to slightly cordate leaf base, a strongly constricted, a straight, oblong, cylindrically-shaped upper tube without veins, 3–3.2 cm long, limb subcordate with margin of three lobes somewhat recurved, but not revolute, inner surface of limb smooth, annulus absent, throat densely covered with purple dots. In addition to the description, line drawings, ecology, conservation status as well as comparison with morphologically similar species are provided.

Thottea aroangensis T.A. Le, D. Dien & Tagane (Aristolochiaceae) is described based on the specimen collected from the A Roang commune, A Luoi district, Thua Thien Hue province, central Vietnam. This species is characterized by subshrub habit 70–90 cm tall, inflorescence at base of stem close to ground level, campanulate and obscurely lobed perianth ca. 2.6 cm long, inside of perianth tube with creamy white patches, and 20 stamens in 2 whorls, by which combination it is clearly distinguished from the other species of Thottea in Vietnam and its surrounding countries. Morphological descriptions, photographs, a distribution map, vernacular name, and preliminary conservation status are provided for T. aroangensis.

A new species of Lagenandra (Araceae), is described and illustrated from Walauwewaththa Wathurana freshwater swamp forest, Bulathsinghala, Sri Lanka. Here we describe the new species as Lagenandra wayambae Madola, K. Yakandawala, D. Yakandawala and Karunaratne and provide a detailed description, drawing and colour photographs. We compare the morphology of L. wayambae with that of similar members of Lagenandra and conduct an assessment of its conservation status. A taxonomic key to the Sri Lankan Lagenandra is presented for easy identification. Recognizing a new endemic member enhances the number of Sri Lankan species to nine. According to the IUCN red data category guidelines L. wayambae qualifies for Critically Endangered category under Criterion B1ab (ii,iii,v) + B2ab (ii,iii,v).

We describe a new species of Phyllanthus, currently known only from the Serra de Baturité mountains in Ceará State, Brazil, a region of predominantly dense ombrophilous forests. Phyllanthus carmenluciae is quite distinct from other species of the genus, and is therefore considered supreme, and is also named to honor the current president of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF), Cármen Lúcia Antunes Rocha. This species is characterized by having pubescent cylindrical branches, a mucronate leaf apex, inflorescences in bisexual cymules, with two proximal staminate flowers and two distal pistillate flowers, and anthers sagittate with vertical clefts. We present information concerning ecological aspects of the species, geographic distribution, affinities with other species of Phyllanthus, photographs, and its conservation status.

Camellia ngheanensis, a new species of Theaceae, is described and illustrated from Nghe An Province, Central Vietnam. It is most similar to C. ninhii in pubescent hairs on twigs and abaxial leaf blades, colour of flowers, pubescent ovary, glabrous filament, free styles from the base but differing by the glabrous petioles, pubescent bracteoles, 5-pubesncent sepals, 12 or 13 pubescent petals, and pubescent styles. The comparison between the new species and C. euphlebia,  C. petelotii, and C. velutina is presented. Data on ecology, phenology, vernacular name and uses, expected conservation status are given along with an illustration and a coloured plate.
