Galvanic coupling method has been observed to be the best method for data transmission in intra-body communication, which is proposed by Zimmerman in 1995. With the increasing transmission requirements and the development of optical fiber communication, a high speed data transmission system is required and it is possible to design an apparatus to realize the electro optic conversion. In this paper, the characteristics of the intra-body communication system are introduced. Principles and structures of the electro-optic modulation methods for intra-body communication are reviewed. Internal and external modulation methods are introduced and discussed. A system of the electro-optic and acousto-optic modulation are recommended for the intra-body communication system and discussed.

System uses micro-controller MSP430 as MCU of a whole system, using an embedded MODEM as a MODEM of data of system, MODEM connection with the microcontroller through the serial port, using another chip of microcontroller to implement a serial communication with PC interface in order to achieve the overall system configuration. The innovations of author: system uses the data achieved by MSP430F149 to transmission system,it has some versatility, it is through an embedded MODEM module connection with the UART of microcontroller for data transmission.

The losses of the off-axis rotary optical fiber communication system were derived from optical fiber coupling, three kinds of misalignments between optical fiber collimators (Axial separation Z0, lateral offset X0, angular tilting θ), incomplete alignment of optical fiber collimator during rotation and system tremble caused by high speed rotating. Some measures were taken to reduce the loss. The thermally expanded core fiber collimator cut down the influence of axial separation and angular tilting. The position of the optical fiber collimator on the flange was adjusted and infrared right angle prisms were installed to reduce the losses during rotation of the system. In addition, improving the precision and optimizing device of mechanical structure can increase the stability of the whole experiment platform and decrease the losses.
