At present, wireless network technology is advancing rapidly, and intelligent equipment is gradually popularized, which rapidly developed the mobile streaming media business. All kinds of mobile video applications have enriched people’s lives by carrying huge traffic randomly. Wireless networks (WNs) are facing an unprecedented burden, which allocates very important wireless video resources. Similarly, in WNs, the network status is dynamic and the terminal is heterogeneous, which causes the traditional video transmission system to fail to meet the needs of users. Hence, Scalable Video Coding (SVC) has been introduced in the video transmission system to achieve bit rate adaptation. However, in a strictly hierarchical traditional computer network, the wireless resource allocation strategy usually takes throughput as the only way to optimize the target, and it is terrible to make more optimizations for scalable video transmission. This article proposed a cross-layer design to enable information to be transmitted between the wireless base station and the video server to achieve joint optimization. To improve users’ satisfaction with video services, the wireless resource allocation problem and the video stream scheduling problem are jointly considered, which keep the optimization space larger. Based on the proposed architecture, we further study the design of wireless resource allocation algorithms and rate-adaptive algorithms for the scenario of multiuser transmission of scalable video in the Long-Term Evolution (LTE) downlink. Experimental outcomes have shown substantial performance enhancement of the proposed work.

Suspended monorails are a common mode of transportation for materials and personnel in underground mines. The goal of the EU-funded project “Innovative High Efficiency Power System for Machines and Devices, Increasing the Level of Work Safety in Underground Mining Excavations (HEETII)” is to introduce a single-wire energy transmission system combined with a capacitive-coupling-based wireless transmission system to power the suspended tractor, along with a monitoring system that will monitor the energy network and additional environmental parameters of the mine. Additionally, the monitoring system acts as the wireless communication backbone, allowing for data transmission to surface headquarters, where the data are processed and logged in a central database. This enables operators to detect and take preemptive measures to prevent potential hazards in the mine, improving the overall efficiency of the energy transmission system. This paper describes the additional considerations required for electrical systems in underground mines with potentially explosive atmospheres, as well as the design of the energy transmission system and the monitoring system.

Over the years, the overdependence on Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) for data transmission necessitated the need for an alternate and more reliable means of communication, hence, Light Fidelity (Li-Fi). It involves the use of Light Emitting Diode to transmit data by blinking (i.e. switching them on and off) at a speed not noticeable to the eye. This paper proposed the development of the Li-Fi system using off the shelf electronic components. This would make the system an indispensable means of communication in the nearest future. This data transmission system is different from those in existence because expensive components were not in the design, invariably reducing the overall cost of the implementation. In this study, an innovative modeling approach is put forward to research the effect of eccentricity on the nonlinear dynamical behaviors of geared-bearing system. This refined model contains the rigid body of the rotor-bearing system and separated gear teeth which are considered as individual bodies elastically attached to the gear hub with revolute joints. The internal and external excitations of the proposed model include torsional joint stiffness, roll bearing forces, friction between gear pair, gear eccentricity, and so on. The systematic procedure for the calculation of torsional joint stiffness, bearing forces and friction coefficient considering elastohydrodynamic is also conducted. After that, the influence of eccentricity on nonlinear dynamic characteristics of the geared transmission system is analyzed. To avoid the system moving in the unstable motion state, a dry friction damper controller is designed to control the nonlinear behaviors simulated on the basis of above model. The linear feedback and periodic excitation non-feedback control strategies are, respectively, selected to design the actuator. It is indicated that undesirable behaviors of the geared transmission system can be avoided effectively by applying the proposed control method.

According to the global de-carbonization trends, renewable energy integration has become an increasingly important issue in power systems. To achieve 100% renewable energy integration and operate a system with these resources, it is necessary to appropriately evaluate the system hosting capability and prepare appropriate planning and operation strategies using the evaluation result. So far, these interests have focused particularly on distribution-level systems. However, although the hosting limit in transmission-level systems requires further consideration, previous study is limited. This study introduces the constraints on the transmission-level hosting limit. In addition, a stochastic estimation of the hosting limit methodology in the transmission system and the use of a high voltage direct current system to improve hosting capacity are proposed and evaluated. Moreover, these methodology-based simulations are conducted using possible scenarios on the IEEE 39 bus system with some constraints, and the simulation results are presented herein. The results showed that the HVDC location selection and operation using the proposed method and optimization technique is appropriate. The strategy can be used to integrate more renewable energy. Furthermore, the proposed methodology can be applied to renewable energy integration scenario establishing a plan.
