Errors often occur in the assembling process because traditional two-dimensional process cards are lack of three-dimensional realistic in assembling site. Aimed at this problem, a visual assembly process planning system is proposed, which turns assembly process into assembly animation on the basis of three-dimensional model on the platform of 3DVIA Composer. This System combines assembly process planning with assembly simulation, and then realizes the assembly process related to three-dimensional process model and assembly animation and assembly process visualization in assembling site by the application programming interface provided by 3DVIA Composer. The system has been applied to some aircraft parts manufacturing enterprise, and then obviously shortens assembling time and guarantees assembling quality.

Three-dimensional assembly process planning is a precondition for achieving full product lifecycle management based on three-dimensional modelling. Information expression and management operations of fixture models are key to three-dimensional assembly process planning systems. To reasonably and efficiently achieve the goal of planning assembly processes with a fixture model, the application of a fixture information model to a three-dimensional assembly process planning system is investigated. First, to manage tooling information, a fixture information model is defined that consists of management information, display information, geometric information, assembly constraints and degrees of freedom. Then, based on the analysis of the degrees of freedom of components and the assembly constraint relationship, a method of solving assembly constraints based on degrees of freedom reasoning is proposed. Finally, by using the method of solving assembly positioning based on geometric constraints, the pose transformation and assembly positioning of parts are achieved. Through the development of a tooling function module, the three-dimensional assembly process planning system is improved. The feasibility of the above method is verified using part of a spacecraft as an example.

Process planning system for hydraulic disk brake for motorcycle based on Microsoft .Net platform is presented. Two modes of process planning which called retrieved process and generated process are studied for assembly process planning and machining process planning. Then process planning system for hydraulic disk brake for motorcycle is developed base on Browse/Sever mode. An example of hydraulic disk brake shows validity of the system.

Auto body welding line process planning is one of the key sections which determines the production cycle of the whole automobile. Take the advanced digital factory software – Process Designer as developing platform, the production information management and the process planning of the auto body welding line are realized by creating manufacturing model and process model, and the auto body welding line process planning system is constructed, the realizing method and step of processing planning are described in detail. Furthermore, take one auto body floor welding line as an example, the 3D digital factory based on the process planning system is generated, and the planning results is verified. The result shows, applying the system in welding process planning, can shorten the time and increase the accuracy of process planning remarkably.
