The article considers the issue of designing self-study methods for police cadets regarding the discipline “Foreign language”. The author analyzes the current role of selfstudy in the educational process in general and considers the ways to organize self-study aimed at professional authentic terminology enhancement. The accumulated experience in teaching foreign-language professional terminology is described in the article as well. The author justifies the need to develop and implement effective methods of foreign professional vocabulary self-study for cadets, taking into account their responsibilities in the field of service and combat training. The author describes various techniques and approaches to organization of self-study for particular semester, arguing their expediency. It is stated that the proposed methods of self-study for police cadets are universal and can be used to improve the knowledge of professional terminology of students of all profiles and specialties.
