In this study, it was the first attempt to fabricate Ni-P-PTFE composite coatings on titanium alloy (manufactured through electroless composite plating). The effects of suspended PTFE concentration, temperature and surfactant concentration in the plating solution on the PTFE content in the resulting coatings were investigated. In addition, the friction and wear properties of the samples were analyzed. The results showed that co-deposition of Ni-P and PTFE can obviously decrease the friction coefficient of the coatings, reduce wear and improve lubricating property of the coatings.

Based on the research of the tribological properties of the Ni60A/MoS2 composite coating, this paper has studied and discussed the self-lubricating effect and mechanism of the MoS2 film in the Ni60A /MoS2 composite coating. Research shows that when self-lubricate coating rub, MoS2 solid lubricant can be precipitated, forming lubricating film on the friction surface through dragging. The Solid lubricate film of MoS2 is an important factor that lead the friction coefficient of Ni60A/MoS2 composite lubricate coating decrease. Meanwhile we analyze the formation phenomenon and friction and wear properties of self-lubricate coating, which show forming mechanism of the lubricating film contain four stages, that is, the friction beginning stage, MoS2 precipitating stage, MoS2 covering stage and MoS2 forming stage.

A novel Co-WC composite coating was deposited on the surface of high speed steel (HSS) substrate by an energy-efficient method of electrodeposition. The effects of process parameters on friction and wear properties of the composite coatings were evaluated, and the worn morphologies of Co-WC composite coatings were investigated by scanning electron microscopy. Results revealed that the incorporation of WC particles can significantly improve the wear resistance of the coating. As the current density was increased to 6.5Adm-2 and the WC concentration was increased to 35g/L, the Co-WC composite coating had the lowest friction coefficient and wear loss.
