Rauni-Leena Luukanen-Kilde (b. 1939) is a well-known figure in the Finnish alternative spiritual milieu. She is an author and lecturer on parapsychology and ufology and has been a guest on several talk shows in the Nordic countries. The topics discussed by Luukanen-Kilde range from the psychic abilities of mankind to visitations from extraterrestrial beings. Since the mid-1980s Luukanen-Kilde has developed conspiracy theories about an elite group governing the world in secret. Luukanen-Kilde is a bestselling author and draws audiences of several hundreds to her talks. Her conspiracy theory view of the world offers explanations for all kinds of personal, national, as well as global problems and disasters. Personal health problems, tragic incidents such as school shootings, economic crises and unemployment, earthquakes and floods can, according to her belief system, all be attributed to a single cause; namely to the actions of a clandestine, malevolent group. The popularity of Luukanen-Kilde’s books and lectures can be seen as an example of how people in late modernity are seeking alternative interpretations of themselves and of world events.

We investigate in this paper the Landau–Lifshitz energy distribution in the framework of [Formula: see text] theory view as a modified version of Teleparallel theory. From some important Teleparallel theory results on the localization of energy, our investigations generalize the Landau–Lifshitz prescription from the computation of the energy–momentum complex to the framework of [Formula: see text] gravity as it is done in the modified versions of General Relativity. We compute the energy density in the first step for three plane-symmetric metrics in vacuum. We find for the second metric that the energy density vanishes independently of [Formula: see text] models. We find that the Teleparallel Landau–Lifshitz energy–momentum complex formulations for these metrics are different from those obtained in General Relativity for the same metrics. Second, the calculations are performed for the cosmic string spacetime metric. It results that the energy distribution depends on the mass [Formula: see text] and the radius [Formula: see text] of cosmic string and it is strongly affected by the parameter of the considered quadratic and cubic [Formula: see text] models. Our investigation with this metric induces interesting results susceptible to be tested with some astrophysics hypothesis.

The computational notion of “trading spaces” is highly relevant to the psychological domain of categorization. The “theory” view of concepts can be interpreted as a recoding view. A design principle for exploiting learned recodings in order to handle the type-2 problem of forming sophisticated concepts is outlined.
