Junior high school students need to have good scientific literacy skills to have sufficient competence to compete in the current and future era of information and globalization. Science is basic knowledge covering products, processes, and applications. One of the science materials is static electricity and electricity in living things. This study aimed to determine the literacy profile of junior high school students on static electricity and electricity in living things. The subjects of this study were junior high school students. This research uses a descriptive research method. Data collection instruments consist of scientific literacy instruments. The results showed that junior high school students’ average scientific literacy ability on static electricity and electricity in living things, in general, was low criteria. The achievement of scientific literacy ability in the first indicator to explain scientific phenomena obtained a score of 28.76% higher when compared to the second indicator evaluating and designing scientific investigations to obtain a score of 15.73%, while the third indicator to interpret data and scientific evidence obtained the lowest average score. of 10.13%. In general, the criteria for scientific literacy in all indicators are very low.

This research aims to develop Flash-based IPA multimedia that is valid, practical, and effective to train students' scientific literacy on the subject of Excretion Systems in humans. The target of the study was multimedia science that was tested on 35 grade VIII junior high school students with the design of One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Quantitative-qualitative data analysis with results: (a) valid multimedia validation (3.5); (b) the implementation of learning is very good (3.7); (c) student activities reach 97.9%; positive student response (97%); (d) students' scientific literacy abilities increase from level 1b (students demonstrate little facts in content, procedural and epistemic knowledge, evaluate and design questions and interpret data in a few situations) to level 3 (students can use content, procedural, and epistemic knowledge to explain, evaluate and design scientific questions and interpret data in several life situations) to level 6 (students can use content, procedural knowledge, and design questions and interpret data in complex situations to reach the highest level in the cognitive domain). The conclusion of this study, that Flash-based science multimedia is feasible to train science literacy of junior high school students.

The development of the science student worksheet based on the bioecology of cuttlefish (Sepia sp.) cultivation is an effort to improve the scientific literacy skills of students at the coastal village school of East Lombok. The purpose of this research is to produce student worksheet that is feasible, practical, and effective in improving students' literacy skills. This research is research and development using Thiagarajan 4D development model which includes design, define, develop, and disseminate stages. The research subjects consisted of 1 SMP/MTs equivalent in East Lombok which were determined using purposive sampling technique. The instruments used include validation sheets, student and teacher response questionnaires, and scientific literacy assessment instruments. The feasibility and practicality data were analyzed using the percentage formula, and the effectiveness data were analyzed using the N-gain analysis. The results showed that 1) student worksheet science based on the bioecology of cuttlefish cultivation (Sepia.sp) was feasible to use with an average score of 73 for the content/material aspect, 73 for the language aspect, and 85 for the appearance aspect, 2) science student worksheet based on the bioecology of cuttlefish cultivation. (Sepia sp.) is practically used with an average percentage of student responses of 81% and teacher responses of 88%, 3) student worksheet science based on the bioecology of cuttlefish cultivation (Sepia.sp) is effective in improving students' scientific literacy skills with an average N value -gain of 0.5 in the medium category. Thus, it can be concluded that the science student worksheet based on the bioecology of cuttlefish (Sepia sp.) cultivation is feasible, practical, and effective to use in science learning as an effort to improve the scientific literacy of junior high school students in coastal village schools in East Lombok.

This article describes BAIF characteristics (physics textbook) to train science literacy ability through VGM representation of junior high school students. The aim of the research is how BAIF characteristics to train science literacy ability through VGM representation of junior high school students. The aim of research can be described as two problems. First, is BAIF consist of the example of application refer to science literacy ability? Second, how is the BAIF writing pattern for junior high school students? Type of this research is R & D (Research and Development). The research is started by collecting qualitative data, and then arranging draft of BAIF until to be BAIF which ready to validation. The subject of research is BAIF to train science literacy ability through VGM representation of junior high school students. The respondents of research are students of an 8th-grade junior high school in the even semester. The technique of collecting data is observation, questionnaire, test, and document. The result of the research shows that BAIF characteristics has been consisting the example of application to train science literacy ability through VGM, and has a pattern of writing order such as title, a title of sub topic, material feature, the example of exercise item, exercise item as competence test, and references.
