The genus Acinetobacter comprises a heterogenous group of bacterias that are mostly pandrug resistant and implicated in variety of nosocomial infections. Acinetobacter junii is a rare human pathogen and is mainly associated with blood stream infections in paediatric oncology patients. We report a rare case of pleural effusion caused by A. junii in a known pulmonary tuberculosis patient who was on cat-1 antitubercular treatment.

Pyogenic liver abscesses are common in tropical developing countries. They are typically present with right and upper abdominal pain; nevertheless, occasionally, we encounter atypical presentations. Here we present a rare case of complicated large liver abscesses caused by Klebsiella pneumonia, which manifests in massive pleural effusion in a young, healthy gentleman. The patient stayed ten days in the hospital for drainage and to receive appropriate antibiotics.

Deep Candida infections commonly occur in immunosuppressed patients. A rare case of a multiple deep organ infection with Candida albicans and spinal tuberculosis was reported in a healthy young man. The 19-year-old man complained of month-long fever and lower back pain. He also had a history of scalded mouth syndrome. Coinfection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Candida albicans was diagnosed using the culture of aspirates from different regions. Symptoms improved considerably after antifungal and antituberculous therapy. This case illustrates that infection with tuberculosis might impair the host's immune system and increase the risk of invasive candidiasis in an immunocompetent patient.

Chylothorax is the occurrence of chyle (lymph) in the pleural cavity secondary to damage of the thoracic duct. It is a rare form of pleural effusion which appears as a milky white turbid fluid. Malignancy is the leading cause of nontraumatic chylothorax while inadvertent surgical injury to the thoracic duct is the major cause of traumatic chylothorax. We report a case of spontaneous left-side chylothorax following septic pulmonary embolization (SPE) with Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). This is a rare case of a nonmalignant, nontraumatic, and nontuberculous spontaneous chylothorax which was conservatively treated with fibrinolysis and diet modification.
