In their work, the authors focus on the pleomorphic adenoma of small salivary glands, its characteristics, location, and occurrence. They describe some cases of its rare occurrence and unusual location. In the conclusion, they emphasize the prevention of possible malignancy of this type of benign tumor.

ABSTRACT Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is the most common benign tumor of the salivary glands and has both epithelial and mesenchymal tissues. It most commonly arises from the parotid or submandibular glands. Rarely, it arises from the minor salivary glands. We report here a case of pleomorphic adenoma arising from the soft palate and both sides of anterior tonsillar pillars in a 75-year-old man. This patient was presenting painless slow growing large swelling in the soft palate over 20 years causing mechanical obstruction of airway and food. The entire tumor mass was excised along with overlying mucosa. How to cite this article Swain SK, Sahu MC, Tripathy R. ABSTRACT Pleomorphic adenoma is a benign tumor arising from major salivary glands and also has been reported in salivary glands of palate rarely in nasopharynx, oropharynx and larynx and lacrimal glands. We report a case pleomorphic adenoma of nasal septum and discuss the clinical features, management along with review of literature. How to cite this article Patil VM, Patil RM, Kushtagi AV. Pleomorphic adenoma is benign tumor of the salivary glands. It is the most common neoplasm occurring in salivary glands. Although it is a benign tumor, it should be treated as a clinically uncertain. In about half of the cases a blurred boundary between the tumor tissue and the parotid parenchyma can be observed. This tumor metastasize distant, even without malignant transformation. Malignant transformation of adenoma observed in 3-5% of cases. The aim of this study was to present the case of 75-year-old patient with recurrent mixed tumor spreading by continuity to the cranial cavity.

A multiform adenoma is the most commonly diagnosed benign tumor of the salivary glands. In the majority of patients, surgical resection of the tumor with the adequate surrounding tissue of salivary gland allows for complete recovery. A small percentage of the cases is a recurring pleomorphic adenoma. Even more rarely the diagnosis of carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma is made. The study presents two clinical cases of the malignant transformation of pleomorphic adenoma into the myoepithelial carcinoma. The surgical treatment and additional radiotherapy were performed in both cases.

ABSTRACT Carcinoma ex-pleomorphic adenoma is a rare salivary gland malignancy, usually derived from a long-standing or recurrent benign tumor, the pleomorphic adenoma.1 This rare tumor comprises less than 4% of salivary gland neoplasms and 11.6% of salivary gland carcinomas. They mostly involve the “major” salivary glands1 and their occurrence in the minor salivary gland is considered rare, especially in the upper lip. So far there is only one report of CXPA occurring in the upper lip in the literature.13 Hereby, we present a case of carcinoma ex-pleomorphic adenoma in a 52-year-old woman who reported to our department with a painful swelling on the upper lip which was diagnosed and treated successfully.

Plemorphic adenoma is a frequent benign tumor of the major salivary glands. It could also develop from accessory salivary glands. We are reporting an extremely rare case of pleomorphic adenoma developing from the infratemporal space. The final diagnosis was based on histological confirmation. The treatment was mainly a complete resection via an anterior transmaxillary approach. Diagnosis, clinical behaviour, and treatment of pleomorphic adenoma of the infra-temporal space are reviewed from the literature.

ABSTRACT Pleomorphic adenoma is a common, benign tumor arising from the major salivary glands, most commonly from the parotid gland. In addition, they may also occur in the minor salivary glands of the hard and soft palate. Intranasal pleomorphic adenomas are unusual and may be misdiagnosed because they have greater myoepithelial cellularity and fewer myxoid stromata compared to those elsewhere. We report a case of pleomorphic adenoma of the nasal cavity arising from the nasal septum.

Pleomorphic adenomas are the most common benign tumor of the major salivary glands. Other rare sites for the occurrence of pleomorphic adenoma have been described in the larynx, pharynx, nasal cavity, lacrimal glands and trachea. We report here a case of intranasal pleomorphic adenoma arising from the nasal septum causing nasal obstruction which was clinically diagnosed as papilloma. Histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of pleomorphic adenoma.
