Morphological characters support the description of two new species of Orchidaceae from New Caledonia: Dendrobium butinii M.Pignal & Munzinger sp. nov. and Dendrobium letocartiorum Munzinger & M.Pignal sp. nov. The lectotypes of Dendrobium camaridiorum Rchb.f. and D. crassifolium Schltr. are designated here. A leaf anatomical study was conducted and provided useful characters to distinguish the five New Caledonian graminoid Dendrobiineae species. Two identification tools are provided: an anatomical key for sterile material of grass-like Dendrobiineae and a morphological key for the New Caledonian graminoid Dendrobium. We propose preliminary conservation assessments with IUCN criteria for the new taxa.

A survey of freshwater fungi on submerged wood in China and Thailand resulted in the collection of three species in Dictyocheirospora and four species in Dictyosporium including two new species in the latter genus. Morphological characters and phylogenetic analyses based on ITS, LSU and TEF1α sequence data support their placement in Dictyocheirospora and Dictyosporium (Dothideomycetes). An updated backbone tree is provided for the family Dothideomycetes. Descriptions and illustrations of the new taxa and re-collections are provided. Four new combinations are proposed for Dictyocheirospora.

Pseudosynaleurodicus gen. n. is described with two new species, P. mayoi sp. n. and P. nigrimarginatus sp. n. These new taxa have some exceptional morphological characters, including emarginate bulla-like terminal tarsal segments, two segmented legs, and features of the vasiform orifice. Placement of these taxa in the Aleurodicinae is tentative given some of their extraordinary morphological characters.

Two new species of Myrcia from the Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil are here described and illustrated. Morphological features set them in the Gomidesia clade. Myrcia espiritosantensis and M. ruschii are recorded from southeastern Brazil, which is considered the diversity center for the genus Myrcia, and the species have restricted distribution in submontane and montane forests. Conservation assessments based on IUCN criteria are also given.

Two new species of Myrcia s.l. from the Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil are here described and illustrated. Myrcia longisepala and M. rogersiana share morphological features which place them in the Gomidesia clade. The species are recorded for lowland and submontane forests in the Atlantic Forest. Myrcia longisepala is morphologically related to M. congestiflora, but differs by its smaller leaves, fewer secondary leaf veins, smaller petioles and fruits. Myrcia rogersiana is morphologically related to M. springiana, but differs by its reduced inflorescence main axis and flowers clustered at the apex of the inflorescence. Distribution maps and conservation assessments based on IUCN criteria are also given.

Validifemur gen. n. is described with two new species, V. pedodontus sp. n. and V. zapparolii sp. n., from the Shanxi Province of North China. These new taxa have some exceptional morphological characters, especially the strong protuberance on the last pair of legs in male. Both species are described based on both male and female specimens.

Two new species of the genus Caloxiphus Saussure & Pictet, 1898 (Pseudophyllinae) are described: C. chapulhuacan n. sp., and C. cuicani n. sp., both endemic to the Huasteca Region, State of Hidalgo, Mexico. These two new taxa show morphological affinities to C. championi Saussure & Pictet, 1898. However, they may be separated from the latter species on basis of external and internal (genitalia) morphological characters that are provided and illustrated. Acoustic signals for C. cuicani n. sp., and information on distribution for both new taxa are given.

Based on both morphological characters and phylogenetic relationships, one new genus Progoniogryllus gen. nov. and two new species, Progoniogryllus rotundus sp. nov. and Progoniogryllus directus sp. nov., are proposed. The new genus is compared with similar genera of Gryllodes Saussure, 1874, Parasongella Otte, 1987, Callogryllus Sjöstedt, 1910 and Goniogryllus Chopard. 1936 by morphological and phylogenetic methods. Based on the knowledge so far, the new genus is very close to Goniogryllus. All the new taxa are described and illustrated, and some information on mating behavior of the new was also provided.

We revise the Neotropical snail-feeding Charadrella and add two new species to it, one from Bolivia and one from Brazil. Additionally, we perform a cladistic analysis of the genus, based on morphological characters. Parsimony analyses were carried out under equal and implied weights. Our matrix included 25 species from nine Neotropical and three Afrotropical genera, including the snail-feeding Cariocamyia Snyder (Neotropical), Aethiopomyia Malloch, Alluaudinella Giglio-Tos and Ochromusca Bigot (Afrotropical). The following relationships between the species of Charadrella were recovered: (C. albuquerquei (C. macrosoma (C. malacophaga (C. boliviana, sp. nov., C. nambikwara, sp. nov.)))). In our chosen topology, the clade that includes Charadrella has the following topology (Dichaetomyia (Alluaudinella (Ochromusca (Itatingamyia (Cariocamyia, Charadrella))))), supporting the placement of the genus in the Dichaetomyiinae.

Eight new taxa of Eriophyidae mites associated with native trees in the Cupania genus—C. oblongifolia Mart. and C. impressinervia Acev (Sapindaceae)—from the Atlantic Forest in Brazil, are described and illustrated. They include two new genera and two new species of Nothopodinae, Colopodacini (Setibia domatiagena   gen. nov., sp. nov. and Aricolopodos alagoensis gen. nov., sp. nov.), one new genus and two new species of Cecidophyinae, Colomerini (Euryslobos keronidos gen. nov., sp. nov. and Gammaphytoptus cupanius sp. nov.), and one new species of Phyllocoptinae, Tegonotini (Shevtchenkella caboata sp. nov.).

Abstract We describe two new species of the freshwater-crab genus Demanietta  Bott, 1966 from Tanintharyi (Tenasserim) division, southern Myanmar (Burma), Demanietta liui  sp. nov. and Demanietta lenya  sp. nov.  Demanietta liui  sp. nov. is morphologically most similar to D. thagatensis  Rathbun, 1904 and D. khirikhan  Yeo, Naiyanetr & Ng, 1999; D. lenya  sp. nov. appears close to D. manii  Rathbun, 1904, D. merguensis  Bott, 1966, and D. nakhonsi  Yeo, Naiyanetr & Ng, 1999. The two new species are easily distinguished from their most similar congeners in the shape of the external orbital tooth, epibranchial tooth, and male first gonopod. Molecular analysis based on partial mitochondrial 16S rDNA also supports the systematic position of the new taxa.
