Let G be a connected graph with vertex set V(G) and d(u,v) be the distance between the vertices u and v. A set of vertices S={s1,s2,…,sk}⊂V(G) is called a resolving set for G if, for any two distinct vertices u,v∈V(G), there is a vertex si∈S such that d(u,si)≠d(v,si). A resolving set S for G is fault-tolerant if S\{x} is also a resolving set, for each x in S, and the fault-tolerant metric dimension of G, denoted by β′(G), is the minimum cardinality of such a set. The paper of Basak et al. on fault-tolerant metric dimension of circulant graphs Cn(1,2,3) has determined the exact value of β′(Cn(1,2,3)). In this article, we extend the results of Basak et al. to the graph Cn(1,2,3,4) and obtain the exact value of β′(Cn(1,2,3,4)) for all n≥22.

Given a finite commutative unital ring S having some non-zero elements x ,   y such that x . y = 0 , the elements of S that possess such property are called the zero divisors, denoted by Z S . We can associate a graph to S with the help of zero-divisor set Z S , denoted by ζ S (called the zero-divisor graph), to study the algebraic properties of the ring S . In this research work, we aim to produce some general bounds for the edge version of metric dimension regarding zero-divisor graphs of S . To do so, we will discuss the zero-divisor graphs for the ring of integers ℤ m modulo m , some quotient polynomial rings, and the ring of Gaussian integers ℤ m i modulo m . Then, we prove the general result for the bounds of edge metric dimension of zero-divisor graphs in terms of maximum degree and diameter of ζ S . In the end, we provide the commutative rings with the same metric dimension, edge metric dimension, and upper dimension.

Let N = V N , E N be a connected network with vertex V N and edge set E N ⊆ V N , E N . For any two vertices a and b , the distance d a , b is the length of the shortest path between them. The local resolving neighbourhood (LRN) set for any edge e = ab of N is a set of all those vertices whose distance varies from the end vertices a and b of the edge e . A real-valued function Φ from V N to 0,1 is called a local resolving function (LRF) if the sum of all the labels of the elements of each LRN set remains greater or equal to 1. Thus, the local fractional metric dimension (LFMD) of a connected network N is dim lf N = min Φ : Φ   is minimal LRF of   N . In this study, LFMD of various types of sunlet-related networks such as sunlet network ( S m ), middle sunlet network ( MS m ), and total sunlet network ( TS m ) are studied in the form of exact values and sharp bounds under certain conditions. Furthermore, the unboundedness and boundedness of all the obtained results of LFMD of the sunlet networks are also checked.

The most productive application of graph theory in chemistry is the representation of molecules by the graphs, where vertices and edges of graphs are the atoms and valence bonds between a pair of atoms, respectively. For a vertex w and an edge f = c 1 c 2 of a connected graph G , the minimum number from distances of w with c 1 and c 2 is called the distance between w and f . If for every two distinct edges f 1 , f 2 ∈ E G , there always exists w 1 ∈ W E ⊆ V G such that d f 1 , w 1 ≠ d f 2 , w 1 , then W E is named as an edge metric generator. The minimum number of vertices in W E is known as the edge metric dimension of G . In this paper, we calculate the edge metric dimension of ortho-polyphenyl chain graph O n , meta-polyphenyl chain graph M n , and the linear [n]-tetracene graph T n and also find the edge metric dimension of para-polyphenyl chain graph L n . It has been proved that the edge metric dimension of O n , M n , and T n is bounded, while L n is unbounded.
