AbstractThe notion of a τ-exceptional sequence was introduced by Buan and Marsh in (2018) as a generalisation of an exceptional sequence for finite dimensional algebras. We calculate the number of complete τ-exceptional sequences over certain classes of Nakayama algebras. In some cases, we obtain closed formulas which also count other well known combinatorial objects, and exceptional sequences of path algebras of Dynkin quivers.

AbstractWe study the simple connectedness of the class of finite-dimensional algebras over an algebraically closed field for which the Auslander–Reiten quiver admits a separating family of almost cyclic coherent components. We show that a tame algebra in this class is simply connected if and only if its first Hochschild cohomology space vanishes.

We study the variety of binary Lie algebras defined by the identities [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] denotes the Jacobian of [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text]. Building on previous work by Carrillo, Rasskazova, Sabinina and Grishkov, in the present article it is shown that the Levi and Malcev theorems hold for this variety of algebras.

For any positive integer [Formula: see text], we clearly describe all finite-dimensional algebras [Formula: see text] such that the upper triangular matrix algebras [Formula: see text] are piecewise hereditary. Consequently, we describe all finite-dimensional algebras [Formula: see text] such that their derived categories of [Formula: see text]-complexes are triangulated equivalent to derived categories of hereditary abelian categories, and we describe the tensor algebras [Formula: see text] for which their singularity categories are triangulated orbit categories of the derived categories of hereditary abelian categories.

Let [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] be two finite dimensional algebras over a field [Formula: see text], such that [Formula: see text] is a split extension of A by the nilpotent bimodule [Formula: see text]. We mainly give necessary and sufficient conditions for a tilting pair [Formula: see text] such that [Formula: see text] or [Formula: see text] are tilting pairs. Also, we obtain a similar condition such that a Wakamatsu tilting pair [Formula: see text] in [Formula: see text]-mod can be a Wakamatsu tilting pair [Formula: see text] in [Formula: see text]-mod.
