The aim of this paper is to study and investigate generating-type functions, which have been recently constructed by the author, with the aid of the Euler’s identity, combinatorial sums, and p-adic integrals. Using these generating functions with their functional equation, we derive various interesting combinatorial sums and identities including new families of numbers and polynomials, the Bernoulli numbers, the Euler numbers, the Stirling numbers, the Daehee numbers, the Changhee numbers, and other numbers and polynomials. Moreover, we present some revealing remarks and comments on the results of this paper.

Abstract Let R be an associative algebra over a field K generated by a vector subspace V. The polynomial f(x 1, . . . , xn ) of the free associative algebra K〈x 1, x 2, . . .〉 is a weak polynomial identity for the pair (R, V) if it vanishes in R when evaluated on V. We survey results on weak polynomial identities and on their applications to polynomial identities and central polynomials of associative and close to them nonassociative algebras and on the finite basis problem. We also present results on weak polynomial identities of degree three.

AbstractLet $$\mathcal S$$ S be a single condition Schubert variety with an arbitrary number of strata. Recently, an explicit description of the summands involved in the decomposition theorem applied to such a variety has been obtained in a paper of the second author. Starting from this result, we provide an explicit description of the Poincaré polynomial of the intersection cohomology of $$\mathcal S$$ S by means of the Poincaré polynomials of its strata, obtaining interesting polynomial identities relating Poincaré polynomials of several Grassmannians, both by a local and by a global point of view. We also present a symbolic study of a particular case of these identities.
