Stroke is rare in children when compare to adults. The aetiology, clinical presentation and outcome of stroke also different from adult. Arterio venous malformations are a rare cause of haemorrhagic stroke in children. Clinical features and secerity depends on site of the lesion. They are prone for recurrence and management of deep seated arterio venous malformations is a difficult one even in an experienced hand. We are presenting a rare case of AVM in basal ganglion region presented with recurrent stoke.

A mechanical harvester developed for lowbush blueberries (Vaccinium angustifolium Ait.) was demonstrated in a field trial to be potentially viable for machine harvest. On a well-managed, relatively weed-free field, four experienced hand rakers were able to harvest a larger percent of the fruit than the machine, but it took about eight times as long to do so. The quality of the berries, as measured by percent poor berries and amount of foreign material, was not significantly different between hand- and machine-gathered berries. On a field that contained a considerable native weed population, the hand rakers were able to extract a greater harvest with better berry quality. The potential of the harvester is discussed in relation to present trends in the industry.Key words: Lowbush blueberry, mechanical harvest

Two patients (one male and one female) recently under went total thyroidectomies using a standard laparoscope at the department of surgery, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka. Three ports (one mid line and two laterals) were employed and a harmonic scalpel was used for the dissection. To the best of our knowledge, there was no report of endoscopic total thyroidectomy from Bangladesh. Both patients were fed on the first post operative day. They were discharged between the 3rd and 4th post operative days. There was no hypocalcaemia but one patient developed temporary unilateral vocal cord palsy. Endoscopic thyroidectomy appears to be a technically feasible patient friendly modality of treatment for the selected cases of thyroid swelling in an experienced hand with excellent out come. Key Words: Endoscopic; laparoscopic; thyroid surgery; total thyroidectomy. DOI: 10.3329/jbcps.v26i1.4233 J Bangladesh Coll Phys Surg 2008; 26: 46-49

Periodical articles on religion are like the plague of frogs in Egypt not only in number but in the fact that they appear in the most unlikely, not to say unsuitable, places. A special apparatus is indispensable to all who have any reason to try to keep track of them. Mr. Ernest Richardson, formerly librarian of Hartford Theological Seminary, now of Princeton University, an experienced hand, with the co-operation of several other bibliographers, has undertaken the laborious task of preparing a special index to this literature on the general plan of Poole's Index. The volume before us includes articles on religion published in the ten years, 1890 to 1899 inclusive, in not far from fifteen hundred periodicals. At a rough estimate, making no subtraction for repetition, the whole number of entries is between 60,000 and 70,000.
