This paper investigates the boundary finite-time stabilization of fractional reaction-diffusion systems (FRDSs). First, a distributed controller is designed, and sufficient conditions are obtained to ensure the finite-time stability (FTS) of FRDSs under the designed controller. Then, a boundary controller is presented to achieve the FTS. By virtue of Lyapunov functional method and inequality techniques, sufficient conditions are presented to ensure the FTS of FRDSs via the designed boundary controller. The effect of diffusion term of FRDSs on the FTS is also investigated. Both Neumann and mixed boundary conditions are considered. Moreover, the robust finite-time stabilization of uncertain FRDSs is studied when there are uncertainties in the system’s coefficients. Under the designed boundary controller, sufficient conditions are presented to guarantee the robust FTS of uncertain FRDSs. Finally, numerical examples are presented to verify the effectiveness of our theoretical results.

We prove that among all doubly connected domains of  R n  of the form  B 1 \ B 2 , where  B 1  and  B 2  are open balls of fixed radii such that  B 2  ⊂  B 1 , the first non-trivial Steklov eigenvalue achieves its maximal value uniquely when the balls are concentric. Furthermore, we show that the ideas of our proof also apply to a mixed boundary conditions eigenvalue problem found in literature.

AbstractA model for a MEMS device, consisting of a fixed bottom plate and an elastic plate, is studied. It was derived in a previous work as a reinforced limit when the thickness of the insulating layer covering the bottom plate tends to zero. This asymptotic model inherits the dielectric properties of the insulating layer. It involves the electrostatic potential in the device and the deformation of the elastic plate defining the geometry of the device. The electrostatic potential is given by an elliptic equation with mixed boundary conditions in the possibly non-Lipschitz region between the two plates. The deformation of the elastic plate is supposed to be a critical point of an energy functional which, in turn, depends on the electrostatic potential due to the force exerted by the latter on the elastic plate. The energy functional is shown to have a minimizer giving the geometry of the device. Moreover, the corresponding Euler–Lagrange equation is computed and the maximal regularity of the electrostatic potential is established.

This paper is devoted to studying some applications of the Bochner-Kodaira-Morrey-Kohn identity. For this study, we define a condition which is called (Hq) condition which is related to the Levi form on the complex manifold. Under the (Hq) condition and combining with the basic Bochner-Kodaira-Morrey-Kohn identity, we study the L2 ∂ Cauchy problems on domains in ℂn, Kähler manifold and in projective space. Also, we study this problem on a piecewise smooth strongly pseudoconvex domain in a complex manifold. Furthermore, the weighted L2 ∂ Cauchy problem is studied under the same condition in a Kähler manifold with semi-positive holomorphic bisectional curvature. On the other hand, we study the global regularity and the L2 theory for the ∂-operator with mixed boundary conditions on an annulus domain in a Stein manifold between an inner domain which satisfy (Hn−q−1) and an outer domain which satisfy (Hq).

In this paper we consider the heat equation with Neumann, Robin and mixed boundary conditions (with coefficients on the boundary which depend on the space variable). The main results concern the behaviour of the cost of the null controllability with respect to the diffusivity when the control acts in the interior. First, we prove that if we almost have Dirichlet boundary conditions in the part of the boundary in which the flux of the transport enters, the cost of the controllability decays for a time $T$ sufficiently large. Next, we show some examples of Neumann and mixed boundary conditions in which for any time $T>0$ the cost explodes exponentially as the diffusivity vanishes. Finally, we study the cost of the problem with Neumann boundary conditions when the control is localized in the whole domain.
