Botryoid rhabdomyosarcoma originating from the cervix is rare among fertile women and constitutes 0.2% of all uterine cancers. A 26-year-old female patient with a cervical polyp presented with a case of sarcoma botryoides. The biopsy specimen confirmed the botryoid sarcoma of the uterine cervix and the patient underwent definitive surgery with lymphadenectomy. Pathology showed negative margins and total extraction of tumor. The tumor was confined to the cervix. The patient is considered group 1A in Intergroup RMS Working Group V (IRSG) criteria and the treatment plan continued with adjuvant vincristine, actinomycin D, cyclophosphamide chemotherapy.

In the case of cervical polyps in the fertile age, the specimen must be carefully and histologically examined to rule out genital rabdomyosarcoma. Since the stage is a very important prognostic factor, an early diagnosis is crucial.

Sarcoma botryoides of uterine cervix is a malignant neoplasm of cervix which accounts 0.2% of all the malignant tumours of the uterus and its peak incidence is between 14−18 years. Here we report a case of a 16-year-old newly married girl who presented with the complaint of vaginal bleeding for one and half months. Histopathology from cervical tissue revealed sarcoma botryoides grade 2, score 5. She was treated by neo-adjuvant chemotherapy and surgery. She was alive for three years from diagnosis and died due to lung metastasis.J Enam Med Col 2018; 8(1): 50-52

Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the female genital tract is a rare tumour. It tends to occur during childhood in the vagina and, rarely, it can arise in the uterine cervix, with a peak incidence in the second decade. We report a case of a 18-year-old female with an embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma (sarcoma botryoides) presenting himself as a cervical polyp. This tumour consisted of rhabdomyoblasts with miscellaneous differentiation surrounded by a loose, myxoid stroma. The patient was successfully treated with cervical conization and adjuvant chemotherapy. She is now disease-free at the 28th month follow-up. Awareness of this uncommon lesion in the cervix and its clinical implications is important to prevent misdiagnosis. Therapy has recently inclined to conservative and fertility-sparing treatment.
